    I just wish they would stay in their own sport.

    You have these MMA guys calling out OUR Boxers and offering Boxing Matches, thinking they can win.

    That ****s laughable

    If people want to watch a traditional sport where the elites have been perfecting their style for years on end, or watch two guys street fighting where in every card theres atleast one lucky punch because these guys haven't even learnt how to spell the word defence.

    I'm not hating on the sport, some people like to watch 2 guys beat each other senseless street fighting way, and good for them if they prefer it.

      In a way its a tad tasteless that they just cant both get along..
      There different sports they really shouldnt be compared..
      It hasnt helped with the likes of Butterbean and Mercer being into MMA..
      Its like the drop off point for past it fighters who still want some limelight.

        Like I said before, boxing IS part of MMA. This is like saying playing quarterback is much more difficult than playing football... which makes absolutely no sense. A much more fitting comparison would be to say boxing is a deeper sport than Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, etc... and I'd argue that that statement is equally as worthless as the first.

        And besides, equating skill to the difficulty in acquiring an alphabet championship in boxing is laughable. The corruption and politics that dominate the sport today make the majority of belts in boxing relatively worthless anyway.
        Disagree totally, you are one of these idiots.

        Boxing is a deep, deep, deep sport.

        Say for every sport you have a deepness level (how much can be learnt) of 100.

        Kickboxing = 100
        Boxing = 100
        Muay Thai = 100

        etc.

        The MAXIMUM anyone can learn is 100, thats the limit, we are not aliens.

        MMA guys will have 30 of boxing, 30 of Muay Thai, 30 of BJJ and 10 of Wrestling for example.

        Someone like Floyd Mayweather in their prime would have a FULL 100 on Boxing.

        Now you really think the MMA guy with 30 boxing skills is gonna beat a Mayweather with 100 Boxing skills.

        You don't just learn to box and say, well I can box, so I can do what you do and more, so i'm better.

          I can't believe I'm arguing with a guy that just quantified boxing into numbers.

          "AND KUNG FU is 136.452 and SAMBO is 46 AND WELL KARATE is 2.45"

          You're clearly speaking out of your ass. Who gives you the pedestal to speak for the difficulty of numerous other forms of martial arts? Unless your name is Bruce Lee, this has to be one of the most condescending, pretentious, uninformed, and disrespectful posts I've read on NSB.

          Cong****.

            Quarterback is the most difficult position in the entire sport. That should tell you something about your analogy.

              Jesus Christ, my point is QUARTERBACK is a position in FOOTBALL like boxing is a part of MMA.

              Is it that difficult to understand?

              Playing Quarterback IS FOOTBALL, so if you're going to make a logical argument, you may argue that playing QUARTERBACK is more difficult than playing WR/TE/SS and so on. To say the position of QUARTERBACK is more difficult to play than FOOTBALL shows you have the mental competency of your average American Idol fan.

                  It was an example to try and get my analogy across to your simple, childlike, uniformed little mind.

                  Obviously, I might have to resort to shapes next

                      MMA is evolving into boxing as we speak. It will take years and years for that to happen, though. I've watched the sport since it hit the scene and it was clear from the outset that those with a strong wrestling background would soon dominate once they learned to defend against BJJ.

                      Now wrestling with BJJ skills isn't enough. Everyone wants to stand and fight. Nobody wants to go to the ground and when they do, fights rarely end in any BJJ move other then a guillotine or rear naked choke. BJJ is a very deep sport itself, but not one that most people want to watch.

                      People want to see knockouts and they can care less if there is a technique behind it. MMA fighters rarely fight in "space" so most boxing principles are useless. The only thing making MMA even comparable to boxing at this point is about 6 oz of padding.

                      Let a boxing match between two superstars happen with 4 oz gloves and you'll see sheer and utter brutality.
