The makeup of our fight system would be completely altered if kids knew they could turn pro at 16. Their development would be different, even the styles would drastically be different because they would have less time fighting against adults to fine tune their way into the pros, everything would be different. You are talking like if the law was changed tommorow and everyone had their choice. Then entire system would be different if you added that dynamic, therefore to answer it that way, and in that context really isnt possible.
any body else think that pacs "former 108lb'er" tagline is overrated?

if may and oscar were ****ing starving and the united states of ****ing america wasnt one of the richest countries in the world and let them turn pro at age 16, dont you think they would turn pro in a jiffy to get some ****ing food in their stomach?Comment

you are mentally ******ed arent you? did you not read the part where i inform the public about how you can turn pro at age 16 in the phillipines and age 18 in the US? did you not read the part where i inform you that pac was probably 5'4 or 5'5 back then? what about the part where i said he was a starving child in a third world country?Comment

Yup. People like saying that to make him look even greater and its a built in excuse for anytime he loses. REmember when people called Morales a ***** cause he asked Pacquiao to fight at 135? Pac ended up saying no and won and then fought Diaz at 135 after that lolalot of people say this when referring to pac, whether to add greatness to him or to insult a bigger opponent.
but if your really think about it, he was what? 16/17 years old, like 5 feet tall, and poor and hungry as hell in a country that doesent have much to offer, but offers fighters to be able to turn pro at age 16 to make a living. so in a way, there are alot of former 108lb'ers out there that at one point in their teens could make 108. shoot, i think mayweather could make 108 when he was 16.Comment

You're all talking about this 'malnourished 16 year old kid turning pro'. Well that just brings more greatness to him. What funding, amatuer boxing program and family trainers did Pac have? When did Pac get to hone his skills on the amatuer circuit and at the Olympics? Pac's raw force and fairy tale story is what makes him so appealing to fans world wide. While Mayweather is talking about PPV draws, '5 losses Margarito' and the 'A-side' (all of which is just garbage nonsense) Pac is knocking out fighters stone cold and giving us brilliant wars against the exceptional Mexican trio.
The achievement was he won the lineal flyweight title so young. Noone can take that away - it was brilliant. Let's face it - Pacquiao has been a wrecking ball of a whirlwind for 10 years now. The amazing thing is he keeps getting better; it's what keeps his fans on the forefront of his ever more destructive tsunami and it's what keeps the haters hating.
Long live Pac; I ain't a hugger but I can appreciate brilliance when I see it unfold.
Let the KOs continue.Last edited by Shattered Jaw; 08-09-2009, 02:59 PM.Comment

you're making up hypothetical situations. the fact is pac was fighting professionally at 108 lbs, while pbf, cotto and dlh were fighting in the ams.
that's not a knock on pbf, cotto or dlh, but fact is fact.Comment

You need to understand that this is tactic by Pacquiao fans so when Cotto beats Pacquiao they don't have to give credit to Cotto and bring excuses like Pacquiao loss because Cotto was bigger.alot of people say this when referring to pac, whether to add greatness to him or to insult a bigger opponent.

when announcers say floyd use to fight at 130 and is now fighting delahoya at 154 is that wrong?do will all pacfans agree that mayweather is a former 108lb'er? and that micguel cotto is a former 100lb'er? de la hoya has been fighting since elementary school so im sure he fought at around 100lbs as well. hes a former 100lb'er as well. so whats up with pacfans bringing this up left and right? i dont understand.
no. it's a fact.
get over it. it's just a saying made by announcers. take it for what it's worth.
you dumbasses get all in a huff and start babbling about pacquiao was in his teens and turned pro young and stuff...... LMFAO
do you think you guys are the only ones that knows that?
everyone knows that. you ain't stating anything groundbreaking.Comment

Duh.. it doesnt change the fact that he was fighting pros and PBF was fighting amatuers.. and that's why pac's story is so amazing..Last edited by johncods; 08-09-2009, 02:57 PM.Comment
