In Armstrong's time the weigh in is at the day of the fight... it would embarassing for Cotto if we apply it today since he will outweigh Pac by 10 to 15 lbs... catchweight my a$$!!! At the day of the fight it will be a battle between a welterweight and middleweight if the fight happens in Armstrong time.

The point is Cotto will have to decide about that. He has money to pay competent lawyers, advisers and consultants. They have already agreed to fight at 145 lb and WBO belt will be on the line regardless of what Cotto wants. Lets just wait for the result of the negotiation and not speculate and act as an expert because it is getting embarrassing and annoying already.

I agree with your point. It will be Cotto who has to decide and probably pay lawyers to go against the WBO and their demands out of their own regulations which in my view (not being any lawyer but just by reading their own rules) Cotto has a great shot and lots of sense behind him.

Yes, although that the fight was agreed (not signed i must add) to the 145 lbs it was not agreed to have the title on the line and will it be on the line or not will rely on Cotto's decision because he can always vacate the title the same way Pacquaio can refuse the fight.

True that it is getting annoying and we are no experts and definitely we will have to wait, but i consider irresponsible for a writer (not you) to present a statement base on one part of a regulation that only takes about the fees and leaves out true rules of the same regulations that actually talks about the weight issue and the vacant title. Whether we agree or not on how to interpret the rules people have the right to have all the facts to judge for themselves. Just like You and Me are doing right now.

WOW You just brought a very interesting point that I didn't think off.

Lets say the title is on the line at 145 and Cotto comes in at 147 at weigh in. He will have to pay the title fees plus the 2 million per lbs that he has to pay just to defend his title under the regulations the title represents (UP TO 147).

Now can somebody tell me that this makes sense!!!!

Sounds good to me. Cotto vacates and does not have to pay the sanctioning fees and sends his message. Pac can win that title (and the super duper diamond belt) should he win. If Cotto wins he will not need a belt to get what he wants in the next fight. Finally, Arum can promote the fights as an historic opportunity for Pac to win a title at a seventh division. Everybody is happy. I have been pushing for this compromise for a long time now. Anybody have a problem with this?

I have a problem with this and it's not a historic fight for Pacquiao. I think this is complete crap that there basically catering this all to Pacquiao and making this a title fight. If Manny wins that belt, he gets nothing from me. You want to make history, be legit about it. Fight at the full WW limit of 147lbs to earn it. Manny Pacquiao is an extremely talented boxer whose improvement over the last few years has been extraordinary. With that said, to the people who trash Floyd Mayweather for cherry picking or ducking people but praise Pacquiao for doing the same, you're hypocrites. Pacquiao does his share of cherry picking opponents and this notion that he fights everyone but first kills the guys on the scales before the fight is almost equally fraudulent to the same stunts people condemn Mayweather for. To those that think I'm supporting Mayweather, don't be fooled. Both of these guys cheat the fans in different ways and I'm tired of watching Floyd make up the most ludicrous reasons for not fighting or fighting someone. I commend Cotto for standing his ground on the issue of the belt. I'm tired of fighters and catchweights. It destroys all legitimacy. Either move up or down to a real weight class, or stay in your own class and dominate it.

Yeah, but at the end if Cotto does Vacate, Pacquiao will have to fight the WBO #2 classified contender if he want the WBO title and in this case it is Joshua Clottey and you know that it's not going to happen.

As per Varcarcel, Cotto has to fight for the title at 145 becasue it's within the 141-147 range even if his own rules say it is UP TO 147 not UP TO 145 and as per the agreement established with Pacman, if Cotto comes within the official WW range by fighting at 147 he will have to pay 2 million extra (1 million per extra lbs that he comes over 145). And then people here has the nerve to say that Cotto is a Cry Baby, Afraid or don't want to make the fight happen when he has agreed to prctically everything the his opponent has asked for.

True that this is getting annoying but i'm prouder today than I was yesterday of Cotto stands and total denial of having the WBO and his ****** President Varcarcel, control him just because they want to cash in. Not to mention the other ****** President (WBC Jose Sulaiman) with his "great idea" and "prestigious new belt" THE GREAT DIAMOND BELT.

These Presidents sole interest is the money not the boxers.
