Hmmm. Not sure if the orthographic and grammatical errors are due to the author fingerpoking the text or if the WBO rule reads exactly the way it is presented here. That first line makes little sense to me. Where exactly does the WBO find its lawyers? At any rate, Cotto should stand up and ****can the lame WBO belt. He is getting disrespected over and over. If the WBO wants to give their belt to Pacquiao, then so be it. Cotto is a big enough star on his own. He has no good reason to bend over anymore for the WBO.

I think the meeting between ODLH & Cotto has something to do this Stubborness of Miguelito with regards to this Belt!!!

It seems Cotto wants to make his own rules!

This article does not address the weight issue!

This article does not address the weight issue! What about the welter weight belt not being fought at the welter weight limit of 147! Should they let marquez fight for the welter weight belt at 135 next?should you have to fight at welter weight to be considered a "welter weight champion"?

Agreed. On the topic of paying per extra pound, Joerville has laid out the skewed logic of this fight without realizing it.

People need to realize that it's not about the fight happening at 145lbs, it's about the title being up for grabs at this catch weight. So it's not a question about the victory as much as the achievement. Keep in mind that Cottos contract mentioned nothing about this being a title fight. All Cotto is saying is that if it's going to be a title fight, than he should be able to compete at the weight the title was won at. Those that argue on behalf of Pac say that the WW scale is 141 to 147 so it is a WW fight. They're right. So Cotto should be allowed to come in at 147.

Cotto agreed on a non title fight under these concessions. When you argue against this, you side with the powers that **** on boxers and represent everything bad in the sport we love.

Where did you get that information bro?
he was the featherweight (126 pounds) champ and went to welterweight (147 pounds) to win the title, no catch weights involved

he also had championships in FW, LW, and WW simultaneously

pac is the new golden boy!

Seems like people will do anything for pac! Now their "making belts up for him"?Ive heard of belts not being on the line just becouse of a fighter being a pound or 2 off. but these rules dont apply to pac?he does have to be a full welter weight to be welter weight champ.Cotto would have probably been strip for being a pound or 2 off for a tittle fight!

What rule is Cotto making up???

The title was never on the line when both fighters had their agreement.

Recognized Title fights as per the WBO rule for WW class is UP TO 147, this fight has been agreed UP TO 145.

Cotto is willing to pay the fees for being a Champion but is not willing to put the title on line for a non recognized WW class UP TO 145.

The only rule that's being made up hear is a WW title for a weight range from 141-145 which doesn't exist.
