like it or not, nothing that was stated is hardly idiotic regarding hopkins...its pretty accurate despite whether his diehard fans accept it or not...
everybody that isn't that big on hopkins says the same thing...that he's only looking to beat up on smaller men...so its easy to hate a fighter like hopkins because his con-artist motives are obvious...
i would give him some credit for doing what i've been asking him to do since he beat up on trinidad like a rag doll, and that is to fight and beat some fighters his size or bigger with equal talent...not overrate him for beating up on blown up welters and middles for his whole career...

Wins fight, 8-4...
How good was Bernard?
Was Bernard Green?
Lets just say this....
After Roy beat Bernard... Bernard didn't lose another fight for 12 years.
Does his usual thing and jump a division? Yeah, how about to fight a BETTER pound for pound undefeated fighter... at a HIGHER weight class.
1994: 26-0 RJJR MOVES UP to fight 44-0 #3 P4P fighter and SMW Champion James Toney... It's a whitewash.... Toney barely wins a round..
You say Toney was weight drained... well Roy Jones Jr. didnt sign on the dotted line to fight a weight drained James Toney. He didn't make a smaller fighter come up in weight... he didnt ask James Toney for a catch weight of 166lbs. No, he signed on the dotted line to fight one of the best fighters in the game, to move up to HIS weight class, and fight him.. risking his unbeaten record.
That was the choice he made.
Fair Enough... lets say Roy moves up to 168lbs and fights Frankie Liles or Steve Collins instead of James Toney... well then he would be ducking James Toney.
You can say he didnt fight this belt holder or that belt holder at 168... and I will respond with, what he did do.... is fight the very best fighter AT THAT weight, when he did move up.
THen moves up in weight YET AGAIN... to fight yet another division of bigger fighters than himself.
1996: 33-0 RJJR Moves up yet again and beats 49-4 McCallum for the WBC LHW title
1997: Roy suffers his first loss via DQ to 26-0 Montell Griffin... 5 months later, immediately revenged by 1st round brutal knockout
1998: 36-1 RJJR fights Del Valle to take the WBA title into his hands along with the WBC...
1999: 39-1 RJJR fights Reggie Johnson to acquire the IBF LHW title along iwth his WBC and WBA titles...
2000: 42-1 RJJR fights Eric Harding to capture the IBO LHW title, along with the IBF, WBA, and WBC titles
Funny how you mention the crap WBF and IBA titles that he acquired, but you don't mention the WBC, WBA, IBO, IBF titles that he also had.
He held SEVEN titles at ONE time at LHW
You mention Darius, who I personally believe they should of fought of course... but to blame everything on Roy? Roy wasnt willing to go overseas, and Darius wasnt willing to come here either.. Darius was just at fault as Roy for not making the fight.
But that doesnt mean Roy didnt fight top 10 ranked LHW's.
You talk about garbage men and post men, but you don't talk about his ranked top 10 opponents, now do you?
Lets look at the ACTUAL LHW rankings in this time
Ring Rankings at Light Heavyweight in 1998 before he unified all 3 belts.
1. Roy Jones Jr.
2. Dariusz Michalczewski
3. Reggie Johnson
4. Graciano Rocchigiani
5. Lou Del Valle
6. Eric Harding
7. Montell Griffin
8. Michael Nunn
9. Antonio Tarver
10. David Telesco
Ring Rankings at Light Heavyweight in 2003 his last year as Champion.
Roy Jones Jr., Champion
1. Antonio Tarver
2. Julio Cesar Gonzalez < Who beat Darius 2 years later.
3. Dariusz Michalczewski
4. Glen Johnson
5. Eric Harding
6. Clinton Woods
7. Silvio Branco
8. Montell Griffin
9. Richard Hall
10. Mehdi Sahnoune
Both lists are practically Roys resume at LHW
Oh but lets not stop there.
Lets move UP in weight again, to fight John Ruiz for the WBA HW strap. The fact that Roy gets flack for this is humorous to me.
Lets talk about how he fought "Bum" Ruiz... but lets not talk about how he came from 154lbs to do it.
And lets not talk about the fact that Roy was a cruiserweight 198lbs, fighting a 226lb Legit heavyweight.
He was outweighed by 28lbs, and all it would of taken was one SOLID right hand to put "Glass chin Jones" to sleep. So was this risky? Of course it was.
If Roy Jones was an actual heavyweight fighter, and his only opponent that he beat at heavyweight was John Ruiz, then fair enough give him flack. But he wasnt a heavyweight... he was a small light heavyweight, who moved up 2 weight classes to fight someone who out weighed him by 28 lbs.
Now if you want to give him **** for not fighting 6 foot 5 265lb Lennox Lewis, then that's your agenda...
After Tyson and Holyfield fight negotiations broke down, he did what he should of done... he moved back down 2 weight classes to fight #1 ranked LHW champion Antonio Tarver, who had been calling him out. He didnt go fight garbage men and police men... he drained his 2% body fat body down 20 pounds and fought the best fighter in the division... and won... barely, but he won the fight and REGAINED the LHW titles.
The rest is history.
So next time you try to make a biased post, try to include ALL facts instead of only the ones that support your **** agenda.
His two best wins on his ****ty resume are a green Hopkins and a slow weight drained Toney
And some people say this man is the GOAT
He ALWAYS jumped when the best got in a position to fight him,its not hate,nots not bull**** its FACT!!!!!!!!!
Please dont try and legitimise John ****ing Ruiz lol very sad,soon as he fought a decent fighter in THEIR prime he got KTFO

The fighters who Roy Jones ducked up until Tarver and Johnson was a who's who of every division he was ever in.
Nigel Benn;
offered Roy Jones a world title shot for his WBO crown at 160 and Roy turned down the title fight to go and fight for a petty title that was created for him against a no mark.
Nigel Benn later became WBC champion and held the belt unbeaten at 168 for 5 years, before and after beating Gerald Mclellan he called Roy out and once again Roy ducked him.
Gerald Mclellan;
Beat Jones in the amateurs, Gerald was on record as later saying that Jones avoided/ducked him in the pros.
Steve Collins;
When Collins beat Chris Eubank and the aging Benn he became like Benn and Eubank before him the top guy at 168. Collins was promised a fight with Roy many times over a number of years but always ducked out for one reason or another.
The ducking of Collins was so bad that in the end Collins took out a full page spread advert in a well known boxing mag asking if someone called Roy Jones would fight him.
Upon his retirement he said that his big regret was in not getting to fight Roy Jones but that he grew tired of chasing him for so many years. He went onto say and I quote, "in the end I would have fough Roy in a telephone box with one man and a dog watching".
Chris Eubank;
Was one of the longest serving champions at 168 holding the WBO title for over 5 years and like Benn and Collins in his time had wins over some of the very best in the division. Eubank is another fighter that Roy just happened not to fight.
Frankie Liles;
Tall awkward southpaw who beat Jones in the amateurs and was once again a long serving 168 champion with wins over some of the best at the weight.
Once again Jones wanted nothing to do with him.
Michael Nunn;
A powerful fighter who was dangerous and good on his day and poor t other times, either way yet again Roy Jones just happened to never fight him.
Baring in mind many of the above got it on with each other one way or another, pretty much none of the above were ducking each other they were getting it on in unification fights and letting it all hang out.
So the above fighters are provably not ducks and many of them claim Roy Jones ducked them.
Then you have the fact that Roy Jones had the #1 P4P title when he held his IBF 168 strap.
He beat just one fighter to get that in a fat lazy arsed weight drained James Toney (vastly overrtaed himself and never beat many big names in the division).
Roy Jones then spent ALL his 2 years fighting for his IBF title against BUMS!!!! guys NONE of whom were even rated in the worlds top ten.
Antoine Byrd Who?
Vinny Pazienza blown-up lightweight
Tony Thornton a postman
Merqui Sosa crap B level
Eric Lucas crap B level
Bryant Brannon who?
He got to be P4P #1 by fighting that lot while not fighting all the aforementioned above.
That is a joke.
Especially with all the other top fighters beating other top fighters, having vastly superior resumes and putting it on the line and calling him out and him saying no.
Then Roy Jones went up to light heavyweight and ducks the only meaningful fighter in the division for a couple of years in Dariusz Michalczewski .
What would make a top fighter move up from a seriously deep and quality 168 to the piece of ****e wilderness that was light heavyweight anyway?
I mean instead of going after a single big fight and look to unify the division with fights against the likes of;
Benn
Mclellan (pre Benn)
Eubank
Collins
Liles
Nunn
etc
He was going upto light heavyweight to fight such luminaries as;
Mike McCallum (so far over the hill he was nearly under it and a 160 fighter)
Montell Griffin wow
Virgil Hill (one of the most protected crappest overrated fighters ever)
Lou Del Valle (B-level fighter who put Roy on his ass)
Otis Grant (who?)
Richard Frazier (big deal)
Reggie Johnson (so so)
David Telesco (powerful and limited)
Richard Hall (decent)
Could go on but you get the picture.
168 was a thousand times better in terms of the fighters and fights and yet Roy Jones ran from the division rather than face the best fighters and make the best fights like all the other guys did.
He sneaks upto heavyweight like a stinking ****ty thief only because he sees a guy as utterly ****e enough to go and win a belt.
This is what Roy Jones was ALL about, picking up alphabetty spagetti titles by beating bums whilst avoiding all the big fights.
Would Roy Jones have gone up to heavyweight if Lennox Lewis was champ, or Tyson, or a younger Holyfield or Ali, Foreman, Holmes, Joe Louis, Frazier etc etc etc
No because he would have got murdered and the little ****bag would not go there.
The first time in Roys career that Roy actually met top fighters he got smacked up.
Roy Jones has just one big name on his resume and that is Bernard Hopkins, but that was a very green Bernard Hopkins who is a million miles away from the fighter that at the age of 37 beat Felix Trinidad and went on to his prime in his 40s at light heavyweight against Winky, Tarver and Pavlik.
Roy Jones has always had a glass jaw, he knew it he would have know about it from a kid, from sparring in the gym etc.
That is why he was super picky about the class of opponent he would face.
It is my contention that Roy Jones defence being his legs was fine against green or b class fighters but that it wouldn't have meant **** against elite level fighters and I believe he knew it...hence the ducks.
Nigel Benn KTFO of Roy Jones
Gerald Mclellan KTFO of Roy Jones
Steve Collins beats him up
Frankie Liles out boxes him
Chris Eubank gives him a beating
Tarver had his number
Glen Johnson would always havea great chance of KOing Jones
A prime B'hop hands Jones his ass back to him
Calzaghe beats every version of Jones that ever existed every day of the week.

Roy Jones fought 1 decent but green Hopkins at 160 and that is it and he fought a craaaap, fat lazy, weight drained and vastly over-rated James Toney.
And yes you heard that right folks.
Roy Jones after Toney fought six times in two years and made 5 defences of his IBF strap.
In doing so he avoided ALL unification fights, ALL the top fighters and EVERY fighter he fought was (now GET THIS!!!) outside the worlds top ten!!!!!!!
So Roy Jones has ZERO decent resume at 168 and a limited one at 160.
The difference with Roy Jones and just about every other fighter considered for greatness is how much of a free ride the guys is given regarding his resume and career path.
Just some of the questions tha relate to Roy;
1
Why did Roy Jones turn down a WBO world title fight with Nigel Benn at 160 in order to fight for an intercontinental hocus pocus belt?
2
Why didn't Roy Jones look to unify 168?
3
Why did Roy Jones refuses to fight Nigel Benn at 168 no matter how many times Benn called him out including after the Mclellan fight? Especially as Benn had been unbeaten for 5 years and WBC champion for that time.
4
Why did Roy Jones never offer to fight Chris Eubank who had been a WBO 168 champion for over 5 years?
5
Why did Roy Jones constantly offer world title unification fights with Steve Collins only to pull out of each promised fight?
6
Why when ALL these great fighters were getting it on with each other did Roy Jones not get it on with any of them?
7
Why is it that Gerald Mclellan claimed that Roy Jones ducked him totally in the pros after beating him in the amateurs?
and
Why does Nigel Benn also claim that Roy jones ducked him?
and
Why does Steve Collins claim that Jones ducked him for years?
and
Why does Frankie Liles claim that Roy Jones ducked him after beating him in the amateurs?
8
Having answered ALL of the above answer me this;
Given that ALL those fighters got it on with each other and were proven and renown for NOT ducking each other are they ALL lying or is Roy Jones the lier?
It is a simple either or question.
Which is it?
P.S
Steve Collins took out a full page advert in a well-known boxing magazine asking if Roy Jones would please eventually get around to fighting him.
Roy would not even be embarrased into fighting him.
When Steve Collins retired he said that he had grown tired chasing Roy Jones for years and that in the end he would have fought him in a telephone box with one man and a dog watching.
ALL these guys offered to fight in the US, so location was not the issue.
Nigel Benn at one point offered to fight Roy Jones in Pensocola and give Roy 100% of the fight purse. Benn still did not get the fight.
Last question;
Why did Roy Jones leave DEEP highly talented and highly dangerous 168 division to go and fight at the barren wilderness of 175?
I mean there was ****-all talent at 175 at that time bar maybe the one guy in German that he also ducked for years....
Why go to 175?
That looks like running away because you can't continue to justify fighting bums outside the worlds top ten at 168 for a pissy IBF strap....
Explain?
Why leave 168 for 175?

Bernard has a great resume when you just look at the names, currentely one of the best resumes out there.
IMO he is overated, but it doesn't mean I don't rate him..
