Because the rules about same day weigh ins were not changed in order to help a particular fighter to win a particular fight. They were changed for all boxers, and for health reasons, because same day weigh ins were thought to be the cause of serious brain injury. That's very different from changing the rules just in order to help a particular fighter to win a particular fight, which is what Pac's advisers are trying to do in this case.

Cotto and Paquiao have already agreed to fight at a certain weight (145) which falls within the weltrweight limit.
Since Cotto is a champion and Paquiao is the no 1 contender WBO will not allow this to happen as a non-title fight... 3% of the purse of this superfight is a lot of money for WBO.
What happens to the belt is beyond Cotto's control anymore... he can dump his trinket...vacate it (to avoid paying for sanction fee, it will be vacant if he wins)...sell or pawn it... but WBO will still put it up for grab in this fight.
Arum will probably pay for the sanction fee (if Paquiao wins) just to sell the fight. The main hype here is that there is a possibility that Paquia will win a title in his 7th weigh devision which is 1st time in history...
I believe Cotto and Paquiao are warriors and this will be a good fight... but watching the BS board and judging from the post of supporters ...it appears that one fighter is hyping the fight by taking risk and bigger challenges...the other wise guy is doing it by bitching, moaning and crying about it.

Mayweather would bring a boring figth taht is more attractive on paper tan anything else..and he needs 2 win something before coming back and stealing it it from the guys who actually fight tough fighters...used to love Mayweather but his antics got to me in a bad way and he needs 2 prove himself again by stepping in the fire with the real fighters

Once again: A Catchweight is used to even things out between two people who are not of the same weight class. People keep saying that Pac Is draining Cotto. That's not the damn case.

Pac is naturally 140. Cotto is Naturally 147. 145 is the Catchweight which should actually slightly favor Cotto because he's only two lbs. shy of the limit.

For those of you who keep demanding that Pac fight Cotto at 147, the flip side to that is why isn't Cotto fighting Pac at 140? Surprised eh? People keep saying that Pac is trying to tilt it in his favor. It's hilarious for me. He's a natural 140 right now!

Manny is no way draining Cotto, and Cotto is too smart and discipline for him to do that to himself. Here's Cotto's comment about the 145lbs weight for like the tenth time.

Why desnt Pac fight him at 147 then? Why create this big hassel for everyone and de-legitamatize the 147WW belt in the process? CLEARLY everyone know its an advantage.
