      Belt

I like Cotto and im glad thats hes not giving pacquiao EVERYTHING he wants but what's he really scared of? If he fights the way he should this fight should not be any longer than 8 rounds really.

Im sure he can get more money if he puts the belt on the line. Maybe thats what hes looking for. who knows?

I still think the fight gets done just hope cotto fights like he sure cuz if he doesnt its going to be a decision for pacquiao.

Throughout boxing history it has always been the general acceptance that the challenger is the one that has something to prove, not the champion.

It would be highly logical and also morally right to demand that Pacquiao would have to take the fight at 147 if he were to challenge for the championship belt at 147.

I really love the way Cotto is playing this. Give up the belt if they insist on it, but enough with all the primadonna demands. He gave you the catch weight, Pac. Just shut up and fight.
It's a matter of discussions & conditions being laid upon by any interested parties...Remember who's the draw right now...the smaller fighter as the man in which everyone wants a piece of him...145lb catch weight is reasonable w/ the belt on the line in the part of Pacquiao that's his motivation, w/out the belt what for?...It's not only all about money, Roach is right that Pac doesn't need Cotto w/ out the belt...

It is a matter of principle, rules and regulations.
The rules and regulations are there to make sure every single boxer is treated the same. It is a new phenomena we are seeing these days with catchweights and the like.
The reason we are seeing things like this is because the boxers are trying to build in excuses if things go wrong.

Superficial things like who is the draw etc is extremely irrelevant in context of rules and regulations and boxing history as well.

They can of course fight at 145, but that needs to be without the belt on the line. This kind of stuff hurt the sport. It needs to stop right now, before those primadonnas ruin everything for everyone.

I understand, but if Pac is motivated to be the WW champion, he should allow an extra 2 pounds and fight at 147. That is the definition of WW - the best at a max weight limit of 147.

They can still fight at 145 without the belt being on the line. I agree that it doesn't have to be about the money. It doesn't have to be about a belt either. The glory will still be there if he beats Cotto at 145. That should be enough. But if Pac were to win, he shouldn't parade around as a WW champion when he did not adhere to the well established rules for the division.

The Glory of defeating a top-level bigger man should be enough motivation, not a tainted title. I don't fault him for trying, but he should look past that. Just my opinion.
