Then he's free to unify wit the Haye-Val winner. I'd like that scenario best if Wlad's tied up wit Chambers and Povetkin the next couple fights.
Arreola would be the best choice, but Dan Rafael said Cristobal was offered a chance to replace Haye on Sep 12 and turned it down, because he's out of shape.

And since Chris Arreola said he is not in shape to be able to fight in seven weeks (source: Dan Rafael's chat)

And since there is no one else who's decent available...

Vitali should give Kevin Johnson (WBC #6) a title shot!
I think Johnson would ud Vitali.

It's not impossible, Vitali is slowing down and Johnson is very good.

Yeah. And in that last fight he showed he could deliver very strong punches with a lot of speed.

Plus he bridges the size gap some too.

It depends what vitali wants.if he wants a good payday(arreola isn't ready I guess ,LOL!)I'd say vitali will consider toney, maskaev,& I have this strange feeling about the Holyfield rumors I heard a few months back.all 3 he should beat & they are all names to add to the resume.they are all past their good days but if it's a decent payday he wants I fight toney in staples center or Holyfield anywhere(even now people still go to his fights),maskaev in Germany.fighting Johnson is a good choice but really what does he get out of that risk? Nothing! I actually wouldn't mind him fighting ruiz just to get rid of him but that won't happen.there just isn't much there for him.oquendo has been very active recently & could be an alright opponent.he's had decent fights with the best.

Johnson still needs to get past Solis, which even with his increasing weight, is no easy task. That fight being the end of September, not sure he'd be ready for a fight with Vitali this year.

Arreola wasn't ready on short notice, but two months or so should be sufficient, I don't think he'd turn it down.

Johnson is still much a prospect, he maybe ready for Vitali, he really hasn't proven much. If he looks spectacular beating Solis than I would say he's ready for Vitali. The best opponent that Johnson beat is the undefeated Olympian Devin Vargas, which isn't saying much.

Holyfield could turn back time just one more time and get on the inside of Vitali and score big!

Yeah, Johnson is quick, talented and much stronger than his KO ratio would suggest. He has freakish reach for his height and a promising future ahead of him. Vitali gets ZERO credit for beating him at this point and Kevin has a legitimate chance of beating him. Not a fight I'd take right now.
