Correct me if i'm wrong, but i think Gamboa is still on FNF. If he continues to perform well, he should be able to break through to mainstream boxing in no time.

I dig Cuban fighter's style. Was "Chico" Puerto Rican or Cubano? I thought he was Cubano.
    chico corrales?

lol.. his moms was mexican and his pops was colombian. born and raised in the states.

They dominate the amateur because their career is longer.
What would be the outcome of Erislandy Lara(right now) vs Oscar De la Hoya(when he fought Vargas)

you have an amateur fighter with 50 fight vs one that has about 300. he got more experience. so he most likely dominate

Boxing will flourish when more Cubans go pro.

Same thing happened with the Sovient Union fighters lately at heavyweight but cubans will dominate the lower weight classes.

They have also heavyweights, and Savon, the best heavyweight amateur ever was cuban. They have boxers in all weight and height categories. Lets see how Solis does, he just needs to slim down and he could be force. Cant wait to see his fight against Johnson, a undefeated talented american vs. an undefeated talented cuban!

They'll do okay, but like people have said they stay amateur so of course they dominate.

Imagine if Amir Khan stayed Amatuer, he'd dominating completely by now. Or any of the American medalists who have turned over like Dirrel etc.

You see another dumb "not well thought through post" by braggar. I like Cuba, Cuban people and Cuban boxers(just not their politics). But the reason they have so many Gold medals is simple. Most of Cubas "amateurs" have like 10 years experience before they get sent to the Olympics. Their label of amateur is much more different than the worlds. So basically the world sends their real amateurs while Cuba sends their Pros.

we'll see.i'm really not high on these current cuban prospects.they seem pretty average to me.I've expected more from rigondeaux he'd be extra ordinary).

you got to look at how old they are too.

i think as far as top quality fighters, pr has produced equal if not more considering the population diffrence.solis isn't special, gamboa makes alot of ****** mistakes, though i think he would be easily one of the best fighters in the world if he wasn't such a moron, and I'm not sold on lara.i don't see the kinda talent in lara that i see in gamboa.its gamboa and everybody else; but the guy needs to stop being a fool.he's easily one of the most talented fighter in the world.
