  • What kind of bull**** is Pacquiao trying to pull.

I mean, he gets his catchweight, gets more money, now he wants a damn belt? What the hell.......next he'll want a mansion made out of gold.

save it tough guy...we have differing views on the matter...you've brought good points that i can agree with...keep your inner troll on check...
hey if it's my title on the line i get to pick the weight.

im not getting "Cotto'd" into fighting at a lower weight.

and yeah I try to put up good points because anyone can say catchweights are dumb

      but I'll say why.

I can remember a huge backlash in the Ray Leonard-Donny LaLonde fight where Ray was allowed to fight for two titles (168 and 175) but LaLonde could not come in over 168.

I don't think there should be any advantages in a championship fight, therefore there can never be a controversial excuse formed before the fight even happens.

i'm tired of this damn thread. someone give me K++

ultimately i could careless if the belt was on the line. i just want to see the damn fight already.

for the sole purpose of boosting boxing, catchweights are fine just as long as theres no title involved...

cotto losing and still retaining belt will still look very weird though.
I can agree with this all 100%.

              • I like Manny and his team but they are really pushing it now.

Unless its a full and legit 147lb fight then it should be OBVIOUS and clear that the 147lb title should NOT be on the line. Cotto should he lose wont have the credit as a champion he has now but he will always have the weight as an excuse, thing is the guy will be too classy to use an excuse should he lose plus he will hold the belt still which will help him in negotiations for other big fights

Everybody knows that Pacquiao is not a real welterweight, he's built is suited at best as a lightweight. Pacquiao wants the fight to be fair and asked Cotto to fight him at a catchweight of 145 lbs (his previous weight was 146 lbs during the clottey fight).

A measly 1 lb will not put a dent on Cotto's health that will truly affect his physical condition during the fight with Pacquiao. The fact is Cotto would probably out weigh Pacquiao by 10 lbs or more the night of the fight.
