Everybody knows that Pacquiao is not a real welterweight, he's built is suited at best as a lightweight. Pacquiao wants the fight to be fair and asked Cotto to fight him at a catchweight of 145 lbs (his previous weight was 146 lbs during the clottey fight).
A measly 1 lb will not put a dent on Cotto's health that will truly affect his physical condition during the fight with Pacquiao. The fact is Cotto would probably out weigh Pacquiao by 10 lbs or more the night of the fight.
If you look at it Pacquiao is in disadvantage by agreeing to fight Cotto @145 lbs
And if Manny isn't big enough to fight there, GTFO. Nobody has twisted his arm to move up. He wants a piece of history, but that should be achieved fairly. Like another poster has already pointed out, its not like there aren't a ton of weight classes today, we don't need catch weights too, other than to establish a non title superfight.Comment

If it isn't an advantage, why ask for it?

Do you think a 1 lb difference in weight from Cotto's previous fight is significant enough to affect his performance?Comment

Please answer the question. You think a mere 1 lb during weigh-in will put a big dent on Cotto's performance comes the night he fights Pacquiao? Remember, after the weigh-in Cotto will rehydrate to 157 - 160 lbs.Comment
