at least calzaghe didn't need 3 tries to finally win a vacant belt.

Would Calzaghe have beaten Roy Jones in 1993?

Besides why do you keep bringing calzaghe up?

And we all know hopkins wasn't in his prime to later in his career, after all while Calzaghe and Roy Jones had great amateur careers and enjoying the olympics, hopkins was serving 5 years in prison.

very few could beat roy jones in 1993. maybe a prime robinson , hagler or monzon.....

because it's fun to bring up calzaghe when people overrate hopkins' career. calzaghe's run at 168 is very similar to hopkins' run at 160. both divisions were weak at the time as well. yet hopkins fans want to talk crap about joe's defenses and not unifying when hopkins' 160 run was pretty similar.

hopkins was in his physical prime and had more pro fights than roy when they fought......yet hopkins fans want to bring up the hopkins was green bs.

Why are you not counting Duran's losses. He lost to absolutely nobodies.
So did Hop on his first fight.

So why do you use it to discredit Hopkins???

because it's fun to bring up calzaghe when people overrate hopkins' career. calzaghe's run at 168 is very similar to hopkins' run at 160. both divisions were weak at the time as well. yet hopkins fans want to talk crap about joe's defenses and not unifying when hopkins' 160 run was pretty similar.
Their title runs are somewhat similar I guess but at the end of the day Hopkins will always have a better more impressive resume than Calzaghe, and that's why Hopkins will always be rated higher on the all time great list.

hopkins was in his physical prime and had more pro fights than roy when they fought......yet hopkins fans want to bring up the hopkins was green bs.
Again, are you ******? Roy Jones had a long very well amateur career, hopkins did not (remember, again he served 5 years in the pen). Roy Jones went on to compete in the olympics, again Hopkins was in prison.

That experience is something that prepared Jones for his win over hopkins. Hopkins never seen the bright lights before, he had never been in a big fight before, Jones had already experienced bigger fights. Jones was used to the cameras following his every move, he was always in a spot light since he was a teenager.

And yes, hopkins was green. ****, even jones was a bit green! Jones was more experienced of the two and was closer to his peak then hopkins, who didn't peak until his 30's.

And again, who cares? Like you said very few fighters of any time could have beat jones back than.

                  Just a few notes.

Hopkins mythical 20 defenses includes a NC.

Hopkins has one win over a guy that wasn't either coming up in weight to fight him (Pavlik, Wright, DLH) or recently came up in weight (Trinidad,) or hadn't yet faced a live body (Johnson,) and that was a 37 yo Tarver.

People want to discount his losses after 40, but he didn't have a career worth squat before 36, when he beat up on little Tito.

An ATG, no doubt, but top 10? Uh, no.

Oh, and I suspect Burner's top 10 ATG list looks something like Brandish's.

You know what? BHOP is dope, but i don't know what the criteria is to be an ATG. Is it sytle? Accomplisments? Career? Politics? Ya dig? Cus i'd put him in the 8 or 9 slot if he were to even be considered an ATG.

He's on my list fer sho...

as a big fan of both Calzaghe and Hopkins i think Hopkins' middleweight run tops Joe's super middleweight run

                      they are similar though
