Didnt they have same day weigh ins in those days?????

How many so called Welterweights today could make and be effective on fight night at 147???? huh???

For Pacs only fight at 147, on fight night he was exactly 147... What does Cotto come in, over 160??? SSM??? Clottey??? P. Will??? LMAO

Cotto's nut garglers are bitching about a couple of pounds 30 hours before the fight saying its unfair, but Cotto on the day of the fight would STILL be 10 pounds north of 147...LMAO

Point blank, if Armstrongs era of same day weigh in were applied today, Cotto nor any other welter of today (besides PBF) stands a chance against Pac...

Also consider gloves, rules ,etc. It was a very different world of boxing back then. I'm not saying Pac is Armstrong's equal in any shape or form but comparing legends that fought 60+ years ago to modern fighters is like comparing apples and oranges.
Both Armstrong and Pacquiao are great fighters from different boxing eras. Just imagine henry living in the internet era, then I can just imagine how his stans would be bragging about how he would beat hoya, trinidad, hopkins, hatton, duran etc etc etc...

I'm a pacfan and just to read a thread about pac being compared to armstrong makes me think how far manny has gone in his boxing career.

I was just thinking that. Today's MW would have been a LHW back then.

Its fun to think about these comparisons. I wonder how good Armstrong would have done if he was trained in typical modern fashion.

That should be a good point of comparison. Would he have the same number of 180 fights in a career span of 14 years in the present era?

Note the number of fights that fighters of yesteryears have. Sugar Ray Robinson was like fighting every two weeks. Man that's something that boggles the mind in the present set up but it was the usual thing during their time.

I think very few people -- if any at all -- are directly comparing, but Pacquiao comes closest to achieving something similar to what Armstrong did.

HBO announcers compare Fanny Pac to Armstrong all the time.

its because they, and a lot of boxing experts know more than you do. there's not gonna be another armstrong, but pac is the closest you can get.
