Im glad Cotto already made it clear he wont go lower tha n 145.

They will stop in mexico City? I guess margarito will be there. Bob is a genius when it comes to promote his fighters!!!
but 142-143 is the original plan anyway right?
cotto is requesting for a 145 fight and pac wants to stay in 143 and its pacman fault? cotto is just begging for 145 by making most of the contract and pac just rejected and its his fault?

cotto fans needs to understand that he dont hold the cards,he is just like an applicant applying for a job and it can be accepted/rejected by the owner of the business, its perfectly clear that 143 is the catchweight if you want a pac fight even before cotto-clottey.

its also pretty wierd that the one who make the contract is from cotto team, it shows who want the fight more, but the thing is cotto team maybe are not reading the news and didnt know that one of the conditions to get a pac fought is the fight will be @ 143. At least mosley knows how to read the news and says that he will fight @ 143

Well... I think by "try" to get Cotto to come down to a weight Manny wants him at is Manny's way of saying that Cotto will get a bigger payday the lower he comes down. I think Cotto could give a **** about an extra 2-3 million and just wants the fight. He feels he can win and will make up that 2-3 million ten fold on another date. Personally, I think as stated that Roach has something to do with this and I think he just feels that Cotto is a SERIOUS threat to Paq. I'd like them to see them fight at 147 since it is for a title, however, I'm not going to take anything away from Paq because unlike Mayweather at least he's trying to fight a guy. I don't think Mayweather would fight Cotto, Mosley, Margarito, Berto, Clottey or Williams if Mayweather was 147 and all the others were 135.

You obviously havent been following this. Its 145 (maaaaybe 144) or nothing. Period. Pac agreed, Roach agreed and that was Cotto's demand. Arum even consulted with Cotto's nutritionist and he stated that 143 is dangerous. At 143 Cotto will probably walk away and fight Berto or Mosley again.

As for Mosley, his offer to fight at 143 was part of his desperate campaign to set up a fight with Pac. He tried to offer more favorable terms, just like he said he would be willing to accept a 35/65 split.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, passes on an extra 2 or 3 million.
That's a lot of money, like 500k for each pound less.

I almost get the feeling that if Pac-Cotto is close, and Cotto wins by decision in a close fight, Mayweather would still want to fight Pac rather than Cotto for the $$$.
But if Cotto leaves Arum, and I believe he will, that may entice Mayweather to fight Cotto.

That thread only explains why they're calling it a "welterweight" fight even though it doesn't take place at the welterweight limit. Show me some proof that it's for Cotto's WBO welterweight title.

Jesus man. Dont be so lazy. Google Cotto, Pac, Belt and you find numerous quotes from Arum.

                  From USA TODAY for example
"The bout would be for Cotto's WBO belt, but it would take place two or three pounds below the 147-pound limit. Pacquiao, who won the junior welterweight championship in May with a knockout of Ricky Hatton, has only fought once above junior welterweight limit when he forced Oscar De La Hoya into retirement in December."

In fact, show me any mention of it not being for the belt.

I hope Cotto will not take a knee if Pacquiao's decision push through @ 144 lbs. What is 1 lb. if Cotto has the motivation to be considered one of the few elite fighter if he beats Pacquiao.

80% is good progress and shows that the fight is just about done. I don't think that Manny will get Cotto below the 145 pound mark that both sides had seemingly agreed to, but I think he can use this to favor the split. By giving in to the weight that Cotto's camp wants he may be able to get leverage and get the proposed 65/35 split that they wanted. This seems like a business move in my opinion as Roach is usually the one making noise about these things and he hasn't been very vocal as of late.
