Paul Williams Stills Aiming To Land Sergei Dzinziruk

He hates to train.
Willaims wouldn't let his old-ass breathe.Comment

Santos would be another solid opponent--and possibly tougher--but to fight an undefeated champ who beat Santos is even better.Comment

PW vs Sergei is the best fight at 154lbs right now. They seem to be struggling over money once again, but I hope it does get donne.
If Martinez and Santos would fight an unification soon, then the winners meeting up next would be another very nice fight.
You know, just the regular fan dreaming.....Comment

i don't want to think you are a moron but some of your post....oh wellComment

I wish Sergio Martinez would get a fight. I've been saying that 154 can be a hit weight class for awhile now, a lot if aggressive tall boxers. A bunch of lefties too. Another reason pwill should stay at 154. Just drop forrest old ass already.Comment

No it didn't. None of them was ever put under any pressure by HBO to fight Williams at that time.
HBO is not entirely against a fight with Dzinziruk, but the network would much rather have Williams take a fight with former champion Joshua Clottey.
So no you're wrong, the situation's completely changed. Last year HBO were uninterested in Williams-Clottey and killed it. Now they are very keen to make the fight and are putting Williams under pressure to take the fight. If he won, they'd obviously put the other top Welters under pressure to fight Williams - what other purpose could they possibly have in pushing for Williams-Clottey other than so they can follow up by making fights between the winner and the other top Welters? Your apparent bitterness about the past is blinding you to the obvious. It's true that there's no guarantee that HBO would succeed in making those fights happen, but it's Williams' best chance of ever getting those fights, so if he's really serious about wanting to fight at Welterweight, he should take this opportunity and see what heppens next.
What you're really saying is that Williams shouldn't even try to get fights at Welterweight any more, which is fine, but if he doesn't want to even try, he should STFU about still wanting to fight at Welterweight and about none of the Welters being willing to fight him. If he does want to try, his best chance by far is to beat Clottey with HBO behind him and pushing for the others to step up to fight the winner.
To his credit, Grustler has accepted this point. IMO, only a closed minded person would not.Last edited by Dave Rado; 07-06-2009, 12:19 PM.Comment

He's already done that dave. It got him nowhere. He claims he will fight any division within reach, not just ww, please get your story straight, it's not like he's ducking a challenge to fight someone who is past his prime, coming up 2 divisions, or a paper champion.
I agree with you that Dzinziruk is also a good fight, though. But strategically, given what he says he wants, Clottey is a better one if he's serious about fighting Welters. And Goossen's dissing of Clottey just makes Williams look ridiculous and like a hypocrite.Last edited by Dave Rado; 07-06-2009, 12:16 PM.Comment

If PW was to fight Clottey, he should do it at 154, rather than 147, as apart from Clottey and maybe Margarito, all the other top wws have already clearly stated that they will not fight PW. So why bother?
Don't believe Clottey would have a problem fighting at 154lbs.
Anyway, I really hope PW vs Sergei is signed, that is an outstanding fight and a legit challenge to Paul.
Not really interested in seeing PW brutalize another midget.Last edited by 11player; 07-06-2009, 12:56 PM.Comment

Didn't you read the article?

As I mentioned, I would like to see him fight Clottey, but I see it getting him nowhere. I think Serg is a better fight for him in the long run and for boxing in general. he's spinning his wheels chasing ww's.
I am annoyed with people saying he's ducking Clottey, that's all. I think he put's it on Clottey and ends right back up where he was after the Margarito fight. I hope you are right about that and I am wrong though.Comment
