And although Williams would be the favourite against Clottey, people under-estimate Clottey too much. He gave Cotto as much as he could handle. It would be a good fight.
A fight with mosley or cotto???? Are you being realistic? With floyd being around too? And the easy out in berto?

If he whoops Clotteys ass..hell just be avoided more..

Mosley and Cotto have shown no interest in Paul...

SO PAUL IS MOVING UP....AND MOVING ON.

I'm going to try to let this thing with Calzaghe die after this post, but what you are saying is wrong about him not doing the same thing that Paul is doing. Joe claims Dawson doesn't deserve a fight with him, and he claimed that Pavlik didn't deserve a fight with him when that fight was in high demand. And Hopkins did his heavy lifting for him. The reason why I brought Calzaghe in this thread was because Dirt Diggler UK was on here talking **** about Williams. When the thing he was accusing Williams of was the same exact thing that Calzaghe did his whole career. People can take it for what it's worth.

Clottey called out Paul last year as well, and Williams was keen on the fight at that time, but HBO killed it on that occasion. Now HBO is on board with it because of the fact that Clottey looked impressive against Cotto, and because many people thought he just about deserved to get the decision.

And most people would certainly not agree with you that for someone who claims to still be a natural Welterweight and to be desperate to the fight the top Welterweights, to be fighting Dzinziruk instead, who is hardly a big name, and who is only ranked #7 at Jnr Middleweight by The Ring, is a better fight for boxing than fighting one of the top 3 Welterweights. That makes no sense at all. It would be a good fight in any other circumstances, but not in these ones, especially as he's resorted to dissing Clottey in a way that just makes him look silly and Mayweather-like (or at least, Goossen has).

That's simply untrue. Maybe some nuthuggers claimed that, but Joe hasn't. But if you really want to go into it, start another thread, it's off topic.

Even though I would prefer to see a Sergei fight.....I think he would get more recognition here in the states by beating Clottey.

Paul just needs to punk people out in person....like what Margs did to Mayweather.

HBO would strongly behind him this time, which wasn't the case in the past. They would put a lot of pressure on Mosley and Cotto to fight him. You might be right that they would still duck him, but it would make them look bad in those circumstances. As it is, they have no reason to fight him, because they can just say he's no longer a Welterweight. If he beat Clottey and then called them out, and HBO put pressure on them, it would be a whole different ball game. If all his talk about still being a Welterweight, and wanting to fight the top Welterweights at Welterweight, is anything but hot air, that's what he would do. Nothing can ever be guaranteed in life, but if he seriously wants those fights, that strategy is by far his best hope of landing them.

The Ring rates Dzinziruk #7. So does boxrec. He's a good fighter but to pretend he's generally accepted as the #1 is ridiculous.

You're being disingenious. He's been saying constantly in many interviews for the last year, including very recently, that he's still a natural Welterweight, and that the moment that any of the leading Welterweights agrees to fight him, he'll return to Welterweight like a shot, but that they're all too scared of him to agree to fight him. And then one of the top 3 Welterweight does agree to fight him, and the moment his bluff is called, he responds by claiming that he's undeserving. That makes him look completely ridiculous, and like he's ducking. Anyone who can't admit that is just a nuthugger.

I'm not pretending that he's scared of Clottey, by the way, I'm just saying that what Goossen said makes him look very bad - and that it makes him look like a hypocrite.

Who at 147 fights him at if he beats clottey dave? You are avioding the question. We know damn well shane and cotto and floyd aren't. Clottey maybe said his name when he had the winky fight signed but he was nowhere to be found when Paul was only fighting 147.

Serg at 7 jmw, behind spinks, verno, forrest and mora (guys who never ever fight is ridiculous).

Wait to see who he fights next before you say he's on some floyd ****. How is he avoiding a guy a weight class below him when he is trying to fight the champ in the division he us the interim champ in? Especially cuz serg is a bonafide contender with a win over another champion???
