the only thing that worries me is mikkels inactivity and making weight. i know he stays in good shape between fights but he is entering his early thrites now and his body will grow. maybe the mandatory (perdormo i think) will be beneficial for him it will allow him to get his focus back on boxing and away from palle-gate.

AA has shown vulnerability at times but i think his fight with simon was one f his poorer performances at M. imo he is more polished than froch, smarter than andrade and i think he would give any SMW a run for their money.

but damn this is some good news after all the cancellations we've had over the last few months.
As you noted earlier, it's a shame that Bute (IBF) is out and that prevents us from getting an undisputed and/or a Ring magazine champ. Still the winner of this tournament is undisputed no.1 in the division.

Arthur is a pretty smart fighter but we simply don't know how he will fare against these guys since AA is virtually untested. It will be most interesting to see him against this opposition.

I don't think you should worry about Kessler and his weight. This guy always stays in shape and he never baloons between fights.

    • This is cruel. It's one thing to get boxing fans' hopes up with just one fight, but this is just abuse. Shame on you Rick.

Thanks for sharing your dream with us Rick, maybe one day it'll come true.

      (j.k.)

I hope this actually happens. It would send out a message to the rest of the promoters and divisions. And maybe HBO will step their game up and try to compete with Showtime by doing something like this too, although HBO is the richer/more popular of the two already.

Hey BattlingNelson, I know what you saying about Arthur being untested but remember that Taylor was once untested at 168 and he did just fine.

I think that Bute/Andrade will end up on Showtime since the 1st one was on there as well. That fight is too good to be an undercard fight and GBP knows this.

If it ends up on Showtime, I can see a deal being broker where they both enter the tournament.

        2 thing for thought..

        1. This will force Pavlik to move up to 168 because there is no one in 160 to fight.

        2. I'm glad t hat Allan Green was left out, he sucks and doesn't deserve the notoriety. I remember in an interview he said that he wouldn't fight Ward or Dirrell because they are prospect but look who career is advancing now Allan....PHUCK YOU and Greg Leon!!!!

I agree that it's mgt problems but it makes him look bad.

              really he said that?!?!

i can understand why he wouldn't want to chase them because he doesn't want to be seen as picking fights with prospects who aare green but if their people approach you then you should go for it.

greene seems to vastly overrate his own importance on the SMW scene, bottomline is this if he dropped off the face of the earth tomorrow the SMW scene wouldn't lose too much.

its nt as though he is lacking any good competiton, the likes of bika, miranda, ward are there for him to fight and at one jean pascal was being talked about. but he seems to have an inflated ego and because of that the fights never get made.

              • Great news, but Bute needs to be included, not Taylor!

Actually I would put Taylor in the tournament over Bute....Bute was going to lose his fight with Bute in the 12th the same way Taylor lost to Froch, the difference being a bought ref saved Bute.

I give Taylor more props for LOSING FAIR AND SQUARE.

                  • Great concept. But fights fall apart at disturbing rates these days. A tournament of this magnitude... it seems destined to fail. I'm just being realistic. It sucks to think this way, I know, but it's boxing...

Mega props to Showtime if they can pull it off.

In boxing terms, possibly; but in money terms, no, he's still much bigger box office. He's well worthy of a place, anyway, the Froch fight obviously could have gone either way and I think Taylor has as good chance as any in the tourney.
