I think Cotto has a better than average chance at beating PAC. Some people are writting him off as if he had no chance; thats just wrong.

In an interview with ODLH a while ago he stated that Pacman's power was lacking in the WW and he himself was surprised that Pacman wasn't able to KO him. I also think that many posters are belittling Cotto's boxing ability. Cotto outboxed Mosely en route to a win and has been showing an increased amount of skill in his matches. He's been working solidly behind the jab and been showing better movement at cutting off the ring. His timing has also been improving as was shown in the Mosely and Clottey fight. I feel very bad that we don't have a good indication of where Cotto stands at this moment because of the circumstances of his last fight, but we at least did see that his heart is still there and that he can take a good punch. We also saw that Cotto is making an effort to box and is not just looking to land big shots. He's much more patient and picking his spots better. Cotto's improved timing and power can spell disaster for Pacman, just as Pacman's constant movement and speed will for Cotto. I only say eventually Pacman will get hit and seeing how well he takes a punch at this weight will tell how the fight goes. Pacman faced little resistance from Diaz in those 9 one-sided rounds, ODLH didn't land anything in his fragile frame, and Hatton didn't last long enough to hit him with anything. With that said we still need to see how well Pacman takes a punch at 140+ pounds.
Best post in this thread, hands down. Cotto and Pac are both two of my favorite fighters (cotto first) so its a little sad to see Pac fans becoming so delusional with their comments instead of being objective. If Pac wins there will be no excuses this time (Cotto is not past his prime and is not a fundamentally limited fighetr like Hatton) so you guys just need to chill out a bit and enjoy the ride. In my mind I see that fight as somewhat of a toss-up favoring Cotto. The result will revolve around how Pac takes Cotto's punch. Pac will get hit, there is no way around that. How will he respond?

With that comment you just forfeited any right to be taken seriously.

Even though Cotto hasn't been looking impressive lately, i agree with you on that one, i still believe in both impressive fights there was a big major problem/disadvantage with the fight (Plaster, Gash in eye). And people before you start talkin trash, its just my opinion, its just how i see it.

he's not smart enough to beat pacquiao.. size won't matter against pacman.. if he's been sparring with middles and lightheavies constantly then it shouldn't matter to him...and yes its only sparring but 40+ some rounds in a single training camp is insane no matter how u slice it... pac is built for war..

tell me whats gonna happen once pac adjusts to cotto's power? And let's not talk about Cotto's head movement/defense.. cotto has to fight a real smart fight and not just bull-rush in...
My only thoughts on this fight is if Judah's & Mosley's speed gave him hell...Cotto is going to get badly beaten...unless his strategy is as good as PAC's.

Cotto can win, but he's going to have to step up his game a lot.

There's too much money in PBF vs PAC for it to end with Cotto...if PAC takes the fight is a sure thing Roach's strategy will win it.

And thats if he fights a perfect fight.

Cotto by early KO. pacquiao can hang with 140lbers with no defense and 147lb old drained and way past prime fighters but Cotto brings Intelligence Timing Strength and much more weight the night of the fight.

Cotto by KO 8th round after dreaking manny down with his crisp jabs
You know, i was playin fightnight round 4 and they got Pac with the welters so me n my cuzin went @ it, i had Cotto. I beat him in like the 6th or 7th round because they have Cotto stronger than Pac in the game, i believe thats how is gonna play out... though in the game Cotto didnt tire as much as he usually does, that might be the problem and extend the KO or even go to a decision.. just my thoughts lol

I do NOT see Pac adjusting to Cotto's power @ all

i think pacquiao is better fighter than cotto.but what makes this fight interesting is wether cotto can impose his strength on pac and whether pac can be elusive enough not to get tagged to much. he needs to land big on pac in the first few rounds and boss him, and if not pac will be full of confidence and hard to stop. cotto needs to cut the ring and back him up into the ropes, if he cant do this i see pac boxing cotto.
