Originally posted by BraggartKilla View PostAs I've mentioned on the other thread, Ortiz has not been with the big boys and it's premature for him to get a lot of attention from the media. I am assuming that Golden Boy Promotion is running out of prize fighters that they are giving Ortiz much publicity and respect that he hasn't earned.

Never heard of the Maidana kid. GBP had him figured right, a puncher with limited boxing skills and heart. They totally missed on Ortiz. He can give a punch but he doesn't want to take them.

I like Ortiz a lot, and I did think he would win, but I did have some misgivings going into the fight. Someone like Maidana, who has an iron will and very good punching power, is a very dangerous fight for someone who has never really been in a difficult fight.
still, Ortiz came really close, 3 knockdowns in 2 rounds and winning 2 of the following rounds is nothing to scoff at. If he had a clearer head(and not run into that right hand in the first round) he could easily be undefeated and getting praised to the skies for his destruction of Maidana in 2 rounds.
