Sounds familiar.. The next big thing in the British press was Audley Harrison and then Amir Khan! This was going off the back of them fighting binmen and school teachers, and being hailed as the next great BRITISH hope. Yet fighters like Hatton, Calzaghe just slip under the presses radar, receive no real attention until they actually do something in the ring!

what a load of rubbish! yes i can understand with audley harrison but amir khan is the next big thing the uk has.. and if he cant do it then i feel sorry for the uk because its embarassing for them that they have no one..
also there is a simple reason these fighters get exposure and talked about and its not because they fight school teachers who split decisioned 2 world champions but its because they are olympic ameteur stars!-that is a big enough reason for them to recieve attention as they have worked for it since they were children winning all the way showing they have some credibilty in their fists, all they have to do then is make the transformation to no head guard and vest and you have a top prospect! if you cant understand that then you shouldnt be watching boxing or your just plain thick!

Am glad that another hype job was disposed of. True what nate said very true am glad golden promotions is going through this **** now. They feel as they are intitled. The next big hype i want disposed of is andre berto. Boy he is the biggest paper champ since jermain taylor. But in light of all this we boxing fans have become to ****** and concern with loses. Really who gives a ****, we should credit guys for going out and giving their all. Records is what has been screwing up the sport!

Got to admit that I predicted that Ortiz would win, although I didn't bet on it. It was always obvious that Maidana had a good chance though. A big-punching and experienced fighter with a good record. Ortiz can still become a star if he wants it enough, but he let a few people down by quitting. I'm removing him from my favourite prospects list. People gave Amir Khan so much abuse for being knocked out by Prescott, but at least he didn't quit - he just couldn't beat the count.

You dont know what you're talking about at all, Nate Campbell is a damn good fighter. Ortiz has severe defensive deficiencies, maidana couldn't miss with the right even tho he has NO handspeed and Ortiz drops his right hand when he comes in which leaves him open for the counter left hook. He should hook up with a higher profile trainer.
