Anybody who makes excuses after this fight saying that the 1 pound difference is what made the difference is just pathetic and desperate for a way to not give Manny his dues.
If it was Floyd, who doesnt dehydrate 13lbs to make weight.. Id think it was 100% Fair.
The difference is Floyd is a gym rat and cotto isn't. I cant feel sorry for cotto for partying between fights, that's his lifestyle, his choice, just like it is for ricky hatton. No one cried about Hatton having to cut 20% of his weight after he blows up from drinking Guiness or whatever. This sport is not only about skills but who works the hardest, who wants it more.
But for Cotto, who dehydrates THAT much already... I can see it making him weaker... HOW MUCH weaker?> Well I cant possibly comment on that.. But dehydrating yourself makes you weaker in general, let alone extending how much you have to dehydrate now.
::SHAKES MY HEAD AT YOU::
See above, boo hoo cry me a river cotto having to lose weight because HE CHOOSES to fight at 147 pounds and blow up in-between fights. omg I feel sorry for your mama

As a Rican, I give Manny full credit whether the fight is at 145 or 147. If it was at 143, I would give partial credit.
Cotto at that weight looked very unhealthy. His personal doctor says 144 is safe for Cotto, so with that in mind, Manny would get full credit.
Honestly he gets credit now even if he loses to Cotto just for his performances against DLH and Ricky. I know DLH was merely a shell, but there were several instances where Oscar did land a clean punch and Manny was stunned but still kept coming. The question is, at this stage in the game, DLH isn't Cotto so will Manny be able to withstand it? I'm inclined to say no. But like they say, it's why they fight.
As a fighter now, I've sparred with guys twice my size and it really isn't no picnic taking a hit from someone who is a light heavy/cruiserweight, where I'm a WW/Jr MW. So for Manny to make the jumps (and any fighter in that matter) gets my respect.
Right because Cotto will just stay 146lbs in between fights.
He should if he wants to extend his career and not gas in the later rounds. There is a reason Hopkins is as good as he is at 44 years of age and for the most part, never gassed in a fight of his career (with exception to maybe calzaghe). It's because he stayed in shape year round, doesn't drink and doesn't party. Same goes with Glen Johnson. These guys walk around the weight they fight it. Mayweather does the same. Cotto does not.
