Purrity, age 30 at the time, is a big man and was 25 pounds heavier than Wlad at the time. Wladimir, who had never been past 6 rounds before because he was KOing everybody early, won the first ten rounds of that fight.
Sanders and Brewster were heavyweights and hard punchers.

Haye promotes himself in the UK and GBP already promotes him in the US. He's already got a strong relationship with HBO via GBP, but he needs a new UK TV backer, and his only real option is Sky.

Purrity had not been stopped in his previous 33 fights, and gone the distance with big punchers like Hasim Rahman, Corrie Sanders, Michael Grant and Tommy Morrison. He fought very good opposition and most of his losses were close.
According to his website, Wladimir is 6'5" (about the same height as Lennox Lewis), Vitali is the one who is 6'7".

You are looking at this all wrong and several important facts you are ignoring.
One is that Wlad was a professional fighter at a younger age than the other guys you are listing. You don't throw a 21 year old heavyweight who hasn't even physically developed to "the wolves" to make him better.
Since the loss to Purritty Klitschko has added 20 pounds of muscle to his frame so it's safe to say he still wasn't even a mature man at the time of the loss.
I maintain that Klitschko's management is to blame for the Puritty loss for not doing their homework on the opponent and putting Klitschko into the fight on much too short notice for a 12 round title fight.
Klitschko fought Purritty only 3 weeks rest and it was his 7th fight in 7 months. Klitschko came in at 6.5 pounds less than he had 3 weeks before indicating he was overtrained in a vain attempt to condition himself for a longer fight.
How can you possibly say he was "being held back" when he was only 22 years old and already fighting for a minor title? If anything he was being pushed way too hard fighting once a month for 2 years straight and not spending nearly enough time honing his craft. Those trainers and their "holding back" made Klitschko a world champion at the age of 24. Looking at today's picture there isn't a single 24 year old even ranked in the top 20.
Purritty deserves respect for having one of the greatest chins in the history of the division and you are passing him off as your typical crappy journeyman which he certainly is not. Klitschko, for his part, was immature and inexperienced and tried to please the crowd by knocking out a man who had previously gone the distance with all the biggest hitters at the weight. Had the fight ended after 10 rounds he woulda won a 10-0 decision.
Obviously he gassed and lost but imo there is no shame in it. Klitschko tried to put on a show despite being overtrained and underprepared against a man he should not have been matched with on short notice.
There are other much more legit criticisms of Klitschko's career, I suggest finding another one.

you made good points but sorry that doesn't cut it with me.Tyson was UNDISPUTED champ by 21 & had fought 10 times better fighters.he won his 1st world title after 28 fights & all of them by 30 fights...you are a wlad fan & I respect your opinion but can't agree with you.

Aw here we go with the bull****.
1. Carl Thompson was a CRUISERWEIGHT for more or less his entire career. How could he have been a "blown up light heavyweight" if he hadn't fought at that weight for 12 years? Seriously, fuck off.
2. Ross Puritty had lost THIRTEEN FIGHTS and had been STOPPED TWICE before facing Wlad. So again, fuck off. He was as much of a bum as a bum can possibly be.
3. Thompson, on the other hand, was a multiple time cruiserweight champ and a durable opponent for anyone (having beaten Eubank twice) even at the age of 40.
4. Haye was in his ELEVENTH PROFESSIONAL FIGHT and gassed out to said veteran. Wlad was in his TWENTY-FIFTH PROFESSIONAL FIGHT and gassed out to a useless bum.
So, once more, shut the fuck up with trying to rewrite history to fit your ideals. Wlad lost to a bum in Puritty, and Haye lost to a wiley old veteran in Thompson. Say anything to the contrary, and you look more pathetic than Haye himself right now. And you don't want that do you?, you fucking nuthuggers.Last edited by PittyPat; 06-24-2009, 01:20 AM.

I'm almost ashamed to admit I like Wlad these days, with so-called 'fans' like them around. I don't even consider them fans of him. A real fan looks at every aspect of a fighter - both positive and negative - and actually discusses facts an in engaging manner. A nuthugger does the opposite of all that. No wonder the guy's so hated. It's his 'fans' that are bringing his rep down.
