If he signs the fight for a catchweight, he has no excuse.

    That is all.
Have you ever seen Cotto giving excuses?

Cotto has come down hard on marg and said that he cheated in their fight as well.

I dont see Cotto getting full credit no matter what the weight is... because people will just say Cotto was too big... and they may be right.

However I still have no idea who wins here... I can see both fighters winning.
I say PAC is too damn fast and Cotto has too loose a defense...At 147 or 144 it wont matter much I think Pacquiao KO's him if he fights the way he did against Clottey. Pacquiao will apply too much pressure for him to lay his back on the ropes and in the corners. Pacquiao is lightspeeds faster than Clottey and throws many more combinations. the way Clottey was landing that right hand after Cotto was cut in the 3rd will be the way Manny will be landing the left hand all fight. Cotto needs to tighten up that D or hope to catch Manny coming in or inbetween shots. I can't see Cotto beating him to the punch. This is whay they fight the fights right....Lefty

Let me remind you of something that people tend to forget in light of Pacs recent performances.

LAST YEAR... IN MARCH... Pac was figthing at 130lbs, and was wobbled by Marquez.

Now... 18 months later... he WILL get hit by a 155lb Miguel Cotto...

Whether Pac can take THAT kind of power... is yet to be seen.

            Reed on point as usual..

But that's what I like about this fight. Who said there is anything wrong with a little bit of suspense? We don't wanna see Pac in there with somee guys at 140 or lower that we KNOW he'll beat.. We want some drama.

And saying that Cotto JUST made 146lbs, is a MOOT point.

It's not like Cotto will STAY 146lbs after the fight... NO... he will have to drain ALL over again... only now that extra 2 pounds MUST be taken off...
It's also dangerous for a fighter if he takes a lot of shots in that condition.

Swelling of the brain can occur.

Manny should fight the guys at 140 instead of BRIBING Welters to mortify themselves..

OF COURSE he does... we all just know the deal was too good for JMM to pass it up... but Floyd still wont be beating the best JMM, whether JMM signed the contract or not.

If you sign the contract, then you are responsible... and should have no excuses...

But with all that... does that mean Pac DIDNT beat a drained Cotto?

                Even though he signed?
the same can be said for pac, why should pac be at a disadvantage by moving up in weight (a la jmm)??
Pac is now calling the shots, if cotto is willling to oblige, Cotto is agreeing to coming the best at the catch weight, I say 144 is a fair competitive fight, pac is getting a disadvantage by going up and cotto like wise by going down.

They both are fighting on even grounds.

if naseem were to fight ali to determine who is more SKILLED fighter, would you force naseem to goto heavy weight? would you force ali to move down to feather weight? of course not, the only way to exhibit SKILL is having a competition on even terms thus a catch weight is created, for exhibition of skill of boxing with two even fighters.

with that said, if pac is fighting for a ww title then I think he should fight at 147.

I just think people forget... this guy was figthing at 130lbs in March of last year...

and since then, he hasnt even been hit...

                  Maybe by Ricky... TWICE.

But NONE of those guys are Miguel Cotto... and Cotto will not cowher in the corner when Pacman lets his hands go... no... Cotto will do what he always does when someone punches him... he will flurry right back... at the same time... and he WILL hit Pacman.. harder than he has ever been hit in his career.

People seem to forget, that Cotto has two fists himself.

Yeah he has commented on it. But he never went as far as to say that the plaster was the reason he lost. Thats the first thing most fighters now a days would have said. And they would have said it each and every time they were interviewed, esp. if it was their lone lose. Cotto has tons of class. Can you imagin if Mayweather had lost his "0" to Margarito in the same fashion, only to have Margarito get caught cheating in his very next fight? We would never hear the end of it.

There's plenty drama for Manny at 140...don't let that Hatton fight fool you.

Hatton was there to be had by ANYBODY.
