So what if Cotto and Shane want Manny.

Their desires don't effect Manny's career decisions one bit.

    He's a 140lb fighter..let him clean that out.

    I don't think he can.
if its manny's career decision he is going to choose to give the advantage to his naturally bigger opponent. o.k.

You can pass out, sitting on the couch if you are dehydrated... let alone being punched in the skull by a professional boxer.
Reed weight drained and dhydrated are too different things to me. Dehydrated is due to lack of intake of liquids. Weight drained to me is coming down in weight rapidly and not building up strength while doing it. If I loose 40 lbs quick fast on some new diet and drop from say 200 to 160 then i would not only loose fat but I would loose muscle too. Oscar dropped all that weight prior to the fight he not only lost what ever excess body fat he had but he also broke down muscle and over trained himself. his chin was fine belive me or else he would hqve been laying dwon next to his stoll not sitting on it at the end of the fight....Lefty

WW is 141-147. so if pac come n at 143 & cotto come in at 146 it still a ww fight. so what the point of a catchweight?

cotto should agree on the purse split but not the wieght esp i pac want the title.

If his naturally bigger opponent happens to be the welterweight champion... and manny wants to win the welterweight championship... then that's exactly what he has to do...

The whole RESPECT level of MOVING UP IN WEIGHT to beat the champion at a higher weight class... comes from the reality... of having to actually move up to that weight class to beat him.

You can be weight drained, by being dehydrated then... seems to be a fine line.

However I agree w you on that count that on fight night, Oscars weight barely moved.

yes you are correct sir 141-147 but if the contract says the limit for this WW fight is 143lbs then you cannot weigh more then 143lbs sir ......Cotto should tell PAC the weight limit is the 147lbs if PAC wants to weigh 143 then let him come in at 143 and let Cotto come in at or just under 147lbs....Lefty

i agree that if it is for the ww championship then it should be at 147. but at the end of the day negotiations comes down to two fighters. if one is willing to sellout for money. then its his decision.

personally all this weight drain has got out of hand after the oscar fight. no one was talking about this before. this fight is under different circumstances. miguel is prime and moving down 2pounds. if correctly done he rehydrate to his prefered weight. delahoya messed up his training and was no longer prime.

With a guy like Cotto who rehydrates THIRTEEN POUNDS in 24 hours...

TWO MORE pounds... IS a big deal.

And the whole "He just weighed 146..." Isnt a valid point.

Because Cotto doest just stay at 146... hes 146 for about 3 seconds... he rehydrates up.. and next fight.. next training camp... he wil lhave to dehydrate ALL over again... only this time... 2 MORE pounds, on top of what he already dehydrates.

I agree with this... Pac can weigh whatever he wants... but the welterweight champion.. gets to come in at WELTERWEIGHT.
