Cotto has faced the best. Mayweather has hand picked fighters who have little chance of beating him. When Mayweather fights Marge, Mosley, Clottey and/or Cotto then the hate for him won't be as bad.
Cotto has faced Mosley, Marge and Clottey. Thus him facing a smaller fighter in Pac isn't seen as ducking the best to face a smaller fighter. Mayweather hasn't faced the best at WW so him fighting a smaller fighter in JMM isn't excusable.Comment

I think ultimately it comes down to this, most people will admit that pac is more likely to beat cotto then jmm is to beat mayweather. Cotto has a bigger chance of losing.Comment

The size difference is the same as the Mayweather-Marquez fight if not more and no excuse would make it any better, Yes Cotto has fought more/better WW but that is not we're discussing here, If you're going to slate a Mayweather-Marquez or a Oscar/Pacquiao fight because of size then you would need to do the same here.Comment

Cotto over the past few years has been involved in great and dangerous fights against top opponents, remember too that cotto is about 5'7" or so and cheato is about 5'11'' but he still took it on. Hes fought mosley, clottey and quintana who has proved hes dangerous with a win over williams. He has EARNED his payday against the number 1 p4p in pac. To say otherwise is just sad.
Unfortunately, floyd has not done this. He retired with all the guys looking to fight him telling us so and so is not worthy or not ready or whatever, or hes got losses blah blah. Floyd plays it safe, thats why people reacted when he was due to fight a guy who was moving up 2 weight classes to meet him. I know hes coming back from a lay off and that has to be taken into consideration, but a pattern has emerged with floyd over the years. IMO floyd just wants pac and that p4p spot back. He has no interest in any of the WW's and thats a shame
