  • All I have to say about Cotto is thet he has always found a way to win win the fight (obviously with the exception of the plasterito fight for obvious reason in my opinion)

When he has fought ko artist at the time of the fight AKA Ricardo Torres and Kelson Pinto, Cotto has shown his power and knocked them out.

When face with difficult and complicated styles AKA Urkal and Clottey, he has managed to win.

When faced with good fast and skilled boxers AKA Malignaggi, Judah and Mosley, not only has he beat them but has surprised them with his speed as well.

Bottom line Cotto is a boxer that has been able to adjust against different boxing styles. Will he adjust to Pacquiao, i'll guess we will have to find out in November.

Another thing that people don't realize is that Pacquiao is not always on balance while throwing punches and Cotto is a good counter puncher with the strongest punches that Pacquiao has ever faced.

Both fighters have a good chance and this will be a hell of a fight.

Keep in mind also that even though I agree that Cotto is bigger, that's just in his body frame because in terms of height that both are 5'7" and thers's a slight reach advantage for Cotto for 1/2".

You never know that probably Cotto's body frame will shrink juust a little coming down to 144 and Paquiao's frame will be bigger by gaining weight.

At the end you will probably not notice the difference.

    • If the fight is at 145, I am sure Cotto can make it. He weighed 146 against Clottey. This will be a good matchup, way better than Floyd/JMM. Hope this fight gets done deal. May the best boxer win.

      • After giving it alot of thought, I think Pacquiao can beat Cotto. At first I thought it would be a mismatch with Cotto destroying him.But Cotto seems to be a different fighter now.He boxes more and even when it appears he has his opponent hurt or dazed, he backs off of them.I personally think he has stamina issues. If Zab Judah had more heart he could have beaten Cotto. I use him as an example because he is a southpaw and quick like Pacquiao.Pacquiao will have that quick in and out attack. He has the quicker hands and feet.If he gets Cotto hurt, he will go after him and finish him. It'll be a good fight, but it will be different from what people think. Cotto has alot of heart and always find a way to win. But with the exception of his fight before Clottey,he does not win convincingly.Maybe that's because his opponents are A and B class fighters. But Pacquiao, according to the experts,is suppose to be the best fighter alive right now.I see a Pacquiao victory.

        • Pacquaio's power is equal to the plaster we will see the same affair. Its crazy to think that the "best fighter alive" picks the guy on a downfall to fight but nobody recoginzes this fact.

          • Mosley vs Margarito
            Cintron vs Angulo
            Forman vs Ali
            Hopkins vs Pavlik
            Hopkins vs Tito
            (To name a few)

What's the common thing on all the above fights? The fact that the first fighter was expected to loose (BIG) because of perceived decline on their skills together with the fact the second fighter had a ton of fans on their bandwagon due to the performace of their previous fight.

My point..... that not always a fighter is as good as their last performance.

People are dismissing Cotto to readily and I think that it's because of Manny's last performance. As great as Manny is (my opinion #1 P4P), Cotto is another beast when compare to Hatton/Oscar. Neither of them would beat Cotto, at the same time who here thinks that PacMan would have beaten Mosley/Margacheato/Clottey.

Pacman is a hell of fighter and he obviously sees a weakness on Cotto.... but to think that he will beat and demolish Cotto I find a bit of stretch. Cotto is a great fighter in his own right.

            • I can't criticize Cotto if he turns this fight down. Having him drain weight is bull****. But who will the guy fight if we get a scenario of where Pacquiao decides to await the outcome of the Mayweather-Marquez fight, and Shane Mosley decides to accept the challenge from Paul Williams? HBO won't accept a low level opponent, and Arum won't be able to throw him on a PPV card since his contract will be up. I think even though a lot of people think Mosley is reluctant to fight Paul Williams, I believe he would rather do that than rematch Cotto at Madison Square Garden. That's why Cotto should have the willingness to be flexible at the negotiation table with Mosley.

              • **** this fight. Pac wouldn't be at his best at 147 and Cotto wouldn't be at his best droppin down. I'd rather not see the fight since 1 way or the other 1 guy is gonna be physically compromised.

                • He can't have Roach so I would bring in buddy mcgirt or floyd snr... His current trainer can't teach him anything he doesn't currently know. Cotto was smart and waiting till now to consider a change.. he would have made a mistake to make such a drastic change in styles from one trainer to the next too quickly, so he stayed with someone familiar for the Clottey fight. I think trainers make a big difference and u shouldn't involve family in the ring (mayweather being the only exception because his father and uncle are legit trainers with credentials). Look at Judah... his dad doesn't know how to be a trainer and he has suffered losses as a result. His dad told him repeatedly in the Cotto fight that Miguel couldn't take his shots when Miguel had his eye looking like a golf ball.. What followed was Judah getting blown up to the body for making an effort to come forward and show heart. His dad led him to defeat. Cotto should get better with a new trainer that can teach him better footwork and defense. Steward doesn't really impress me at all... he is a finesse guy. He has made Jermain Taylor and Wladimir look very soft and confused in the ring with his conservative style in many fights.

I think Cotto excercises great patience in the ring... Thats his best attribute. He won't chase Pacman around like a crazy person. He will probably try and cut him down. Pacman will want to show some heart and Cotto will break his spirit. I got Cotto on this one by KO... I think everyone is getting a bit ahead of themselves. Pac did great against DLH and Ricky...... However, old DLH would've lost to my grandmother by TKO that night. He hadn't seen 147 in AGES. Ricky has never been a guy with good boxing technique.. he always was a brawler with no defense and a huge head. I do give Pac his credit though... he did his part and just went to work.

Cotto would be a REAL fight though. I think Cotto wins inside of 10 rounds

                    • I was in the Garden this past weekend for the Cotto fight. Cotto fought his heart out. He deserved the decision. I would love to see Manny Pacquiao walk into the Garden with 15,000 fans chanting Cotto's name. The MGM Grand can kiss my ass. Bring this fight to the Mecca of Boxing. MSG
