Gift? That's bull. Cotto could have quit after 4 and won easily. Instead, he fought 12 hard rounds and won a close fight, mainly because Clottey was tired/lazy the last 3 rounds and didn't throw punches. Cotto threw 100 more punches, and landed "fewer" according to compubox. I think they were giving Clottey too much credit for blocking. Regardless, you cannot say Clottey was better, because the huge gash changed the dynamics of the fight. It was 2 bulls charging forward for the 1st 2 and a half rounds. The headbutt changed all of that. Close fight? Yes. Robbery, no freegin way.

        you have some good points...

i told you guys that cotto gases. clottey didn't throw enough punches; if he did he might've stopped cotto.

Clottey does fight only in spurts and in the end of the fight stopped punching. This how he always fights and got outboxed in the end. Kudo to both fighters fighting thru with the injuries they sustained. A rematch should be down the line somewhere

What a terribly biased article! The knock-down was the difference. The margin of victory on two of the cards was certainly greater than it should have been, but the victory went to the right boxer. Clottey stopped fighting in the last two rounds and therefore has only himself to blame for the loss. But I do agree that 116-111 was ridiculous, and 115-112 was also too wide a margin. It should have been one round to Cotto or two at the most.

It was a really great fight, in which both fighters showed tremendous courage - why couldn't the writer of the article celebrate that instead of whinging about a result that was fair, even if the margin of it was not?

Also, now that the iron chinned Clottey has been knocked down by a jab, I hope that will stop the haters once and for all from going on and on about Khan being shaken by Prescott's jab. It can happen to anyone.

u forget cotto threw clottey to the ground, then later on hit him in the back f the head, and hit him low.

and u call clottey dirty for an accidental head clash? in that case amir khan is dirty(MAB fight)

Edit: btw i picked cotto to win
Clottey is known for headbutts. On purpose or not.....

Cotto didnt even throw Clottey to the ground. He shook him off and Clottey slipped and fell awkwardly. The punch in the back of the head definetly didnt seem intentional and Clottey blew it out of proportion again.
