He worked on keeping his hands up, so he kept them low. He worked on head movement, so he didn't move his head at all. He workled on his jab, so he didn't jab. He worked on angles, so he showed no angles and just tried to bulldoze his way in, in straight lines, the complete opposite of what Floyd had asked him to do. To blame Floyd for Hatton's stubborn willfulness is just crazy, IMO. The lateness issues may have been unprofessional but they don't explain why Hatton chose to completely ignore Floyd's gameplan. And when he followed Floyd's gameplan, against Malignaggi, he looked good doing it.

No one was saying that after the Malignaggi fight. Hatton rediscovered some of his old skills in that fight, while he was being trained by Mayweather. He looked better that night than he had since the Tackie fight.
      Excellent response.

There is no doubt that Hatton would have got KTFO either way but there's also no doubt that floyd sr is an overrated bum trainer. Roach Brutal KO over Floyd Sr 1 round!!!

ricky doesn't need floyd as an excuse(even though its a good one) to convince himself that he could still beat some good fighters cuz his only 2 losses have come against p4p #1 fighters. not #3, not #2, but 2 #1 p4p fighters. How could he be down on himself for that?

Ricky's biggest mistake was severely underestimating Pacquiao's speed & power at 140.

U cant change almost a decade of fighting style in 1 fight & 2 training camps. Pacquiao's been with roach for almost 8 years & we are just witnessing the improvements in his last 2-3 fights.

Ricky could have had ray arcel & dundee in his corner, a surgeon for a cutman, & barack ***** as his motivational speaker, Pacquioa would still obliterate him.

Even his signature fight vs a past his prime kostya he fought the same way. KT was very very game that night & he rocked ricky more than a couple times.

Ricky is what he is, the english arturo gatti. A glorified club fighter with a elite legendary fanbase.

snr. and hatton is a bad combination. snr. only thinks that defence will make his fighter win fights and thats what he is trying to instill to hatton.whereas, hatton only knows one style that made him successful and that is coming forward with brute strenght and overwhelming his opponent. team hatton knows that when they hired snr., ricky should adjust to snr.'s style of boxing.but what they'd didn't know was ricky didn't have the ability to adapt to a new type of boxing style and he got a problem of listening to instructions.he just did the opposite of what snr. tought him and threw their gameplan.

the moral of this story is, team hatton could have hired a dog trainer first to train ricky how to follow instruction given to him by his trainer.lol........

In a fight you need confidence, without confidence you doubt your own ability so you will be scared to go at your enemy. Both Pacquiao and Hatton had plenty of confidence going into that fight.

The problem is aswell as confidence you need respect for your enemy. In the prefight talking, it was clear that Pacquiao respected Hatton as a fighter. Same can't be said for Hatton and Pacquiao, he direspected his power and strength which ended up in him trying muscle him around we all know the rest.

You hit the nail right in the head, Hatton had NO respect whatsoever for pacquiao going into the fight, He kept going on and on about how he was the bigger man and how paq has never been hit by a true 140Ib'er.

He thought he can go in there and just maul and push around Pacman, Mayweather snr was trying to teach him the basic things which would have given him a better chance at winning the fight.

Mayweather snr thought he could make Hatton fight like JMM but hatton isnt a fighter that thinks in the ring and thats why he got nailed like a bum, I agree with another poster who said Hatton is a glorified clubfighter with an extreme elite fanbase.
