I like Calzaghe, and I became a fan of his after he beat the brakes of Lacy ( chose Calzaghe to win) but when you disect it, his resume is in all honesty dismal. Lacy and Kessler....like who the hell have they beaten, and why haven't they accomplished anything since. The Hopkins fight was controversial and could have gone either way, and Hopkins was fighting with a thyroid condition and Joe looked horrendous, and what made it worse was him flat out rejecting giving a rematch to the man who gave him his shining opportunity. I wont even talk about Roy Jones who was knocked out by Glenn Johnson four years ago.

What you have to realize is early in most A grade fighters careers they all have power because they fight scrubs, tomato cans and washed up veterans who either have no chin, or have eroded to an extent that they have no chin left. This is why fighters like Winky Wright have so many KO's early on in thier career, and cant seem to seriously hurt any A class opponents.

Exactly. Calzaghe's power has always been decent to solid - he never had one-punch KO power, injuries or not. Most top fighters knock out the majority of the first 20 or so opponents they face. Once they step up, the KO percentage goes down. Nice post.

I'd say so. He has built a solid fanbase since he KTFO Hatton - I suppose it's the if you can't beat him, join him mentality. He is known to the casual fan whereas DLH isn't.
