so much more a money-sport, and the sanctioning bodies have
totally lost control of it: the sheer number of them is evidence
of their failure.

The proliferation of sanctioning bodies is one thing, and so is
the increase in number of weight classes, running parallel to
an apparent increase in the number of active professional boxers.

I still dig Manny because for a good while, he was taking on
everyone worth taking on, and winning. These past two years
have been about cashing in, or rather, cashing out.

He didnt make anything from the Diaz fight. Did you really think the delahoya and hatton fights were unworthy fights and solely about cashing out before you saw the outcome?

i see what your saying. sometime fighters of the past have been put in a pedastel where a mere comparison with todays fighters is taken as an insult, or as a lack of knowledge in the sport and its history.

this is unfair for todays great fighters. the situation is different then and now. its not their fault there are twice as many weight classes now or a fighter normally fight twice a year.

i always laugh at morons who feel "insulted" when pacquiao's accomplishment is compared to armstrong's. it is the closest we can get folks.

Alot of those guys on those 100+ wins are the modern day equivalent of sparring partners and simply there to get paid taking a beating and keep the fighter sharp.
