Simple. Marg became #1 when he beat Cotto. Cuz Pwill had beaten Marg before and regained his belt from CQ, he was made #2 and Cotto was dropped behind him. SSM vaulted to #1 when he beat Marg. Not the lineal title, but the #1 ranking has had the 'man who beats the man' thing attached to it basically.

Youre mixing apples and oranges, if youre going to have this convo you have to concentrate on one rating system, I have been going by The Ring which is the best to go by since all champions are rated there. Urkal beat nobody of note at 147 heck he beat nobody of note at 140.

You have to count other top wins and loses in the division to make rankings and move up and down. Just Beating 1 guy wont get you his spot.
