All these fighters were consensus top to fighters at the time. I left Gomez off the Margarito list because his title shot was political and not earned. One only has to look at his resume to confirm this. Jennings was left off Cotto's list for the same reason.

Like I said, its close. But I still lean towards Cotto.

Urkal was never a top fighter at welterweight. At the time Quintana could have been considered an unseasoned prospect whose biggest win was against another prospect in Julio. You can probably say Cintron equals Zab, but Marg having Williams on his resume is the X factor and puts him over Cotto, even Cotto's biggest nuthugger agrees Marg's is better.

They have Williams at number 2 at JMW at Number at MW and they have Pacquiao at Number 5 at Ww.

They have Rolando Reyes at Number 4 at LW,ect,ect,ect.

Their rankings are not so good this days.

But I could agree, they aren't perfect. That Pac at #5 @ WW is pretty funny. I think Rolando Reyes deserves to be in the top 10. There could be argument over it but I really don't put much interest in it.

If you are the number 10 WW you dont have to beat the Number 6 WW to become number 6. If You beat number 9 and number 7 you leap frogs the numner 6, because you are beating 2 top 10 contenders while you are not fighting at all.

Cotto is going to have a win over the number 3 and number 1 contenders, but he wont get to be the number 1 contender? WTF? You dont have to beat a man to get their spot on the rankings!!!!!!!!!

SSM would have to sit out longer before his spot was taken by Cotto. Look how ****in long Winky stayed ranked #1 at MW before they finally moved AA past him. Based on havin beat SSM before, Cotto can demand a rematch now and especially after beatin Clottey. But the past win coupled wit a Clottey win won't immediately vault him past SSM in the rankings. If SSM stays stuck on this **** about not fightin tho, then yea I'm sure Cotto would become #1.
