Ranking systems work on what a fighter brings to the table. Otherwise Williams wouldnt be ranked number one by The Ring, having done so little at 154, if the fighter hasnt fought and beat a fighter in a division, they place him where they think he should go, in other words in the Ring's thinking, they believe Williams would beat every 154 lb fighter in the division having only faced Verno Philips there, who WASNT ranked number one when he beat him. This has been going on for over 100 years and somehow this practice escaped you, welcome to the party.

Ranking systems are based on accomplishment at either that particular weight or the previous one. You can be a stud who fights nobodies and never get ranked. Sooner or later a fighter has to take it to a higher level to see where he stands among his peers.

According to rankings yes its mosley. But when people talk about WW they think of Cotto. Cotto is the one who is consistently giving the fans great fights, even if people hate him they know his fights are entertaining.

Yea he was. Just like Gomez though, I couldn't see why. If I remember correctly Gomez was on it for a very short time. Maybe it wasn't as strong as it is now.

Very true that Cotto didn't do **** at 147 to deserve a title shot. But he has made the best of it and beome a worthy, honorable and fighting champion.
