Therefore, its up to Cotto and Shane to rematch, then the winner of that fight will be the real #1.
Exactly! If they fight eachother we could finally have the real legit number 1.

In the end Cotto will be a National hero with weatherd facial features and slurred speech while Maywetaher will be on a beach in Monaco with all his scruples.
I have to disagree. Although Oscar was all about the money, he still took on the toughest challenges out there. He didnt pick and choose according to low risk/high reward.

Real Boxing Fans Know Real Boxers. Cotto is da Real Deal.

Let me tell you all you Cotto haters something. The DeLahoya vs Mayweather fight brought huge PPV numbers but it was boring. I was sooo pissed that I paid $60 bucks watching to idiots try to avoid hitting each other on they're pretty faces. True boxing fans could give a **** about Mayweather. Cotto's fights are exciting and gives flashbacks of the throwback fights from back in the day. The only reason Cotto does not bring in huge PPV numbers is because he does not speak english well and does not have a personality. In order to grab mass media appeal, you have to trash talk and be arrogant. Everybody loves a villain and Mayweather is the Master of playing the villain.... Now all of you Cotto hater could go **** yourselfs....

Your statement then is flawed because if you take away Margarito for cheating and suspected cheating then you just reinforced my hypothesis of Cotto being #1 because he already defeated Shane. Beating Clottey is the icing on the cake for us avid boxing fans. Though I can see where your rationalization would play out if Clottey defeats Cotto...fighting Shane at that point would only make sense to being #1 in the division.

I believe Senor Boxeo is talking about ODLH fighting guys who were flawed and damaged by Felix Trinidad. Vargas is regarded as an exceptional win for ODLH but he was completed damaged goods after the Trinidad fight. Vargas' next fight against Wilfredo Rivera was evidence of the punishment Tito gave him as he went down and almost out from a straight punch....and Rivera doesn't have that type of power. After seeing Vargas' flaws ODLH then wanted that fight but not before hand. Then the Mayorga fight, once again Tito did his damage. Other names that should be mentioned would be like Steve Forbes, Felix Sturm, Yori Boy Campas, Javier Castillejo...these are recent fights that can be stated as tune up fights that made Oscar work harder than he should have been yet he made so much money due to his popularity. Anyways, not hating just stating the obvious known to hardcore fans.

Alot of these WW's will fight anyone. In general, if you don't have to mention the names Mayweather, Paq, and Calzaghe, you know you're gonna get some real fights.
