Enough said. I don't mean to piss on your chips, I hope you do earn 30k when you walk out of Uni but them things are complete bull**** dude.

And I agree with you about the dead money, but I would rather have a bit extra money each week paying rent, than struggling to pay off a mortgage on a house which I won't even own until I'm 60.
You'll probably pay more in rent than you would a mortgage.

To get back on track, I don't think Carl Froch should be allowed to fight in the UK if he is a resident of Spain just to avoid paying tax. I don't have that luxury, nor should he. If he wants to live in Spain, let him fight in Spain.
Good point. But Polish people working in the UK send the money back to Poland to their families, so it doesn't filter into the British economy...what's the difference?

We've got some Daily Mail readers here. I thought Carl was an intelligent guy, but he sounds like one himself. Good riddance to him. Anyway, by the time the 50% rate kicks in for the super wealthy, he'll have been retired by Bute or Kessler or someone with a hundred times more talent.

By the way, did anyone know that for the first NINE YEARS of Thatcher's rule, the top rate of tax was actually 60%?

Carl should be grateful he wasn't boxing throughout the most of the 80s.

But what would you do seriously? you were going to get taxed 50% of your earnings? your telling me you wouldn't consider doing the same? if you say you wouldn't you're telling porkies.

Well, there is 3 things the government needs to do -

            1) Limit the amount of single foreign workers allowed into the country, but make it easier for qualified foreign families to settle here. That way, money will stay in the country, and it will free up lower paid jobs for British workers.

            2) Make tax a universal 40% across all income levels. You shouldn't be penalised for how successful you are. However, stars like Lewis Hamilton weren't happy paying 40% tax, when most of the country had to do it.

            3) Overhaul and redesign major tax burdens like social welfare. You are right in saying that the lazy and idle get too much help while working families struggle. Introduce a system where you are rewarded for being in full time work, and not out of it.

the uk isnt that bad, compared to Rep. of Ireland. Im in the north and have never been happier to be under british rule, thats how bad it is down there.
Only difference between ireland and iceland is a c.
If i was Froch (or any rich man in the UK) I'd leave too. Just makes sense.

I could write an essay and that would be boring but here are a few things that spring to mind...

Pros: 16% tax, low bills, high(ish) wages. Loads of hot available women, great transport, great food, good night life, safe and low crime. Cheap travel to the rest of Asia.

Cons: Very polluted air, crap local music scene, congested streets, peoples' lack of manners, hardly any welfare state (is that a bad thing?)

Yes you are right. But you shouldn't be able to leave and continue to make money here without paying tax. 50% is too much tax, but sport stars earn a great deal of money. I'm happy for Carl Froch to live in Spain, but not to avoid tax. I'm sure if he became brain damaged in the ring, he would happily live off welfare, and recieve expensive treatment off the NHS.

                      4) Provide food stamps as opposed to money. They've done this in 1 state in the US and had amazing results.
