What the Thompson fight showed was Haye starts really fast and can blow away opponents but is fragile in both the chin and stamina department. Vlad is not only too big for Haye, but he knows way too much.

And what he had achieved prior to that fight? Beaten by Rahman, Grant, Sanders, Donald and Byrd. He was, as they love to call 'em around here, a "bum".

knows way too much about what ?
        it aint boxing for sure.

in his whole career he has added one new punch to his shot selection,
and he picked that up from manny steward.

hayes conditioning is way better now, hes a far more patient fighter
and he definately has a chance of outboxing wlad, rather than just
having a punchers chance. i wouldbt be that surprised if he got a UD

          Double standards.
Speak for yourself. I'm indifferent about both those fights, even as a fan.

Great logic there. Haye gasses out once and loses in his 11th pro fight, whilst Wlad gets stopped 3 times - twice in title fights - and KD by Peter, yet that doesn't count as a fragile chin? Get a grip on reality. Neither man has an iron chin, so it'll be down to one punch to end this thing.

He had a draw with Morrison, and wasn't stopped by those fighters. Purrity was a big, sturdy, durable fighter.

You should watch the fight. Wlad looked great, showing off his boxing skills to his hometown fans in Kiev. He was moving around the ring faster than I've ever seen him, quick as a welterweight.

Wlad had knocked out nearly all his previous opponents in rounds 1 or 2, and had never been past the 6th round before. So he gassed in the 10th round, having won every round up to that point...

That loss is no reason to hate him.

And I don't. Why do you think I always go around saying I prefer Wlad to Vitali? I find him much more fun to watch. However, liking - or even being a fan - of a fighter will not cloud my free will to criticise them. I always look at every fighter I follow with an objective outlook (i.e. my favourite is Katsidis, but I openly acknowledge that he has a lot of flaws in his current style).

So with that said, a single loss to Thompson is no reason to hate Haye, either. He was young, it was an early fight in his career, and he made a silly error in underestimating a wiley Thompson. That, like Wlad's last loss, was 5 years ago. He's come a long way since then. But he really does need to fix that low left arm, because it'll get him nowhere - least of all against Wlad.

              Fair dues already.

Thompson was throwing feather dusters in that fight and Haye couldn't take them: that's why it ranks as a revealing contest. At least WK lost to Sanders in a real world title fight, and not some support on somebody elses show.

You were in that ring, huh? How about going up to Thompson today and asking him to throw a feather duster in your face.

He gassed out. The punches just served to exacerbate his inexperience and lack of a gameplan that night. It did him the world of good, like so many other fighters who have either lost or been stopped outright.

The loss for Haye against Thompson was a bad defeat but in the end it helped him focus more and i think he is better for it, An early defeat in a career is not the end of the world and Haye lost to a former champion it was a long time ago.
