i just don't appreciate keyboard warriors calling a dude who gave everything he could a quitter to make there favorite fighter seem better or make cotto seem like less of a warrior. they don't mean quit in the literal sense of stopping of action they mean it as coward.
cotto did not quit

He did indeed as evident by him retreating backwards and hugging the floor. Plaster or not he would have done that either way to me. His punches did nothing to Margorito and we are talking fluid hard crisp combos that were deadly with speed and power landing exactly were Cotto wanted them to. Yet, those punches did not even slightly phase Margorito, IMO Margorito got better the more Cotto hit him he just kept coming. Margorito would never lose a fight to that man. I don't even like Margorito but that man will dominate Cotto like a nightmare 10 out of 10 times.
If it was an even playing field who's to say Cotto lands 1/3 more punches (or more) on Margo. Do you think it would have helped Cotto win the fight? Of course it would have. Come on now.
It's not official yet and hasn't been proven that Margarito used Plaster on Miguel but I'm sure it soon will be. The signs are there that he did.Comment

When you fall to the ground just at the THOUGHT of getting hit again you quit. Marg broke his will, it was wild to watch because I didn't think that would happen.Comment

I'm not (or more accurately wasn't going into the fight) a huge Cotto fan, but I definitely think he was a victim. You don't really think that was the first time he used loaded wraps do you? It seems like you're saying since that was the first time he was caught that it was the first time he ever used them. Highly doubtful dude.Comment

You seen Cotto-Torres? Don't tell me he wouldn't have fought on after seeing that fight. He has heart.Comment

I don't mind that he quite...It was the right thing to do...and I don't think thats really the TS's issue.
I think it's the form that word is used in...as derogatory or inflammatory...It's used to bait Cotto fans into idiotic arguments that are impossible to win.
Miguel Cotto fought bravely and left everything in the ring...If you don't believe that you have a serious problem with reality.
Wether AM used plaster is a whole other story.
Common sence would suggest that he did...but the truth will never be known unless there's a confession by someone in the AM camp...Which might happen later in life in a tell all book or something like that.
Anyway Plaster or not Cotto did choose to stop fighting...Which is quitting...It just depends if you find that cowardly or a negative thing...Which given the circumstances only the most biased of people would.
IMO Cotto could have beaten the Plasterd up Margarito ...If he came into the ring with a better game plan...Clinching and a body attack would have negated all those inside upper cuts he was eating.
Though I agree that if you factor in Plaster Wraps...All game plans become 100x harder to execute.Comment

Cotto was broken down mentally and, of course, physically. Some accuse Cotto of having stanima problems late in the fight ( see vs. Mosley). All three of these factors combined, Cotto did quit. Was it a bad thing? IMO, no. You can die in the ring. You live to fight another day.Comment

those who say he's a quitter in general is a bit over the top to me. i think he did quit, not shamelessly either. honestly, i think if he retired right there.. he'd be a quitter. however, he decided to not take any more damage, go back to the drawing board, and come back ready to get it on again. no point in risking permanent damage, especially with someone of margo's output.
either way, even if cotto just took it for a round, and dealt with the beating even longer, we'd still see the same amount of haters. i mean, the same haters saying **** like, "miguel lowblotto". for sure, he did lowblow. but now it's just moved onto miguel quitto. -_- it's all the same ****, just new and updated.Comment
