Back before boxing got silly, if you were bigger than a Welterweight, you were a Middleweight. De La Hoya was EASILY a top 3 calibur Middleweight when he fought Hopkins. And the only name you could decisively put ahead of him is Hopkins. No one else. Jermain Taylor had begun to make a name for himself around that time, but other than him I don't recall a Middleweight who would have beat De La Hoya.
apologies my memories of the MW division are toney, RJJ, hopkins and recently taylor and pavlik.

imo the MW division is in a p!ss poor state these days and i havne't really followed it

still dont think DLH had any buisness at MW - you can prove me wrong one way, if DLH's rehydration measures at MW were the same as they were at WW then i'll accept that he is a genuine MW.

also does anyone have the same facts about tito i.e. what he weighed on the weigh in and what he weighed come fight night from both his days as a WW and MW

Calzaghe: 40 year old jones, 43 year old hopkins, lacy, kessler

hopkins: prime jones, john jackson, glen johnson, trinidad, william joppy, oscar de la hoya, tarver, wright, pavlik

hopkins in his 30's would have beat calzaghe, and there's no question that hopkins is higher on the ATG's list.

To me atleast, there really is no discussion. An aged, faded Hopkins made Calzaghe look very vulnerable and awkward. It's a shame the fight didn't happen in their primes.

I used to feel that Hagler>>>>Hopkins but in recent years I've moderated my views and have them somewhere on the same level.

Hell, we even have Roy Jones saying that he wasn't worth the risk back in the day. If he has the class to say that then you have to wonder why other people can't.

Jay Larkin is and always was in Frank Warrens pocket. Fact!

Fair point. The thing I don't understand it the insistence on arguing about what isn't really a relevant issue. Actually, it's par for the course on here.

Do you believe every con because if you do I would be interested in talking to you about MonaVie. Also refer me to anymore Calzaghe fans you might know. I think I just struck the jackpot of gullibility!
