calzaghe is a world beater, he beat a miniture mike tyson in jeff lacy and pummelled manfredo...i dont think there is anyone out there that hits as hard as calzaghe, ****! did you see manfredo's face after that fight?

Calzaghe padded his thin resume at the end of his career by taking on the best two fighters of the 90s. He got dropped by these senile old men in the 1st round both times. Jones and Hopkins both, if they were anywhere near their primes, put Joe to bed in 8 rounds.

I wouldn't say he "clearly" beat him.Hopkins was 43 and made Calzaghe look childish.You leave out that Hopkins is past his prime,yet insist Calzaghe is.In all fairness, Calzaghe had youth on his side and allowed Hopkins to knock him down.I seen Calzaghe throw a lot of flurries and only landing a rare,wild,ineffective "punch/slap".Hopkins landed cleaner and more effective punches.In fact,if you watch the fight,you will see Calzaghe slapping, hitting below the beltline several times,and playing dirtier than Hopkins.
Calzaghe should have been penalized...sure Hopkins overexaggerated the low blows,but I'm sure it was to get the ref to deduct a point.Either way,this fight was a coin toss that Calzaghe won.Not a "CLEAR" win as you suggest.

i believe its calzaghe, he is the better fighter and when people say resume calzaghe has defeated a very good HOF'er (hopkins) outside of his SMW reigns.

- i think when you compare their reigns at MW and SMW calzaghe has the better resume. i believe that he won the belt from a genuine champion, i believe that his wins are over a slightly better level of competition however if someone was to argue that both fighters have equal quality of title defenses then that is fair, what is unfair is saying that hopkins has the better level of defenses.

-the defining factor in their reigns is that calzaghe beat the young up and comer in kessler and hopkins lost to taylor. twice.

- outside of that i think hopkins has a series of misleading wins, wright and pavlik were fighters which hopkins cleverly exploited and called them out to weights they had no buisness being at. his win over tarver however does deserve respect.

- however calzaghes own wins outside of SMW are very respectable especially over hopkins. no-one can make the argument that calzaghe fought at a weight that didn't suit his opponent, calzaghes win over RJJ however is virtually worthless.

calzaghe imo is slightly ahead of hopkins, although not by alot. iv said beforehand that calzaghe should be ranked higher and the only way for him to really achieve that was to beat dawson, even though he shouldn't have to.
