Take Trinidad out (and you can argue about his effectiveness at MW anyway) and Hopkins' resume at MW is roughly the same as Calzaghes at SMW.
Feel free to argue that Hopkins beats Calzaghe - it's certainly a makeable argument - but you can certainly argue it the other way. Calzaghe's capable of being a slick boxer when he wants to be - it's how he beat Kessler in the end and Lacy of course. He also used to be capable of blitzing his opponents until the hands finally gave up - see the Sheika, Mitchell and yes even the undefeated at the time Veit.
