zaghe wasted his prime chasing the big fights, the fights with hopkins, tarver, RJ, johnson. the reason for them not happening is not because joe was afraid, he spent his best years chasing them:
BBC, Sport, BBC Sport, Sport Online, world, uk, international, foreign, british, online, service

besides zaghes level of comp is comparable to hopkins - kessler, eubank, lacy, bika, mitchell, reid, sheika at 168 are on equal footing with hopkins best wins at 160 - tito, joppy, DLH, holmes, eastman, johnson, jackson
See it's **** like this that makes people hate Joe fans. Joe SAID he was doing a lot of **** (chasing the big fights-yeah right)...bottom line is Joe was content to sit around on his trinket belt and then when everyone got old he came along. He only real WOW win at SMW was again Kessler a guy who hasn't and won't fight anyone.

Good to see that this place still has common sense.

No it's not at all, The only guy that was any good was eubank and he was past it. He's the only guy Calslappy fought at the weight who ever beat anybody. And the difference is Hopkins was the undisputed champ or considered the best in the division for the whole length of his reign. He actually beat the other belt holders instead of just imagining he could. Calzaghe was just another trinket holder who never even tried to unify the title until his 18th defense. He was hiding behind the most pathetic title in boxing for a decade.
DING DING DING. This clown SAID he'd fight Roy or Hopkins but there was always the "in my backyard" clause. See, Joe's nuthuggers forget to mention that part.

That this guy was fighting in local gymnasiums and thought he was the star because he had a WBO TRINKET belt in the 90's. So obviously Roy or Hopkins HAVE to come over there and fight him. I could get into the SMW division being around for how long?

Or we can do what I've done before and look at his defenses during his supposed prime between Eubank and Lacy a MASSIVE SPAN where he faced such stal***** as:

        Branko Sobot
        David Starie
        Tocker Pudwill
        and
EVANS ASHIRA (people always love to point out how this guy was pretty good, but I say pretty good in relation only to the massive fail that is the SMW bums parade he fought).

In 2006 he steps up or so we thought. To be fair Lacy WAS hyped so he gets credit for stepping up to face a big hyped name (and that's ALL he was). Of course, where did this fight take place?

We'll skip ahead to everyone saying he'd lose to Kessler who is a good fighter but that's about it. Kessler has beaten NO ONE of note a fact even his biggest fans have been forced to admit in the past. Joe does a god job in this fight adjusts and wins. Credit to his best SMW defense and final total unification. (We'll leave out Sven floating around in the earlier years, that I don't think was Joe's fault).

        Then what?

        43 year old Hopkins.
39 year old shot to pieces (and I can't stress it enough- the guy was WIPED OUT how many years BEFORE this fight took place).

This is his legacy. A record of defenses of a trinket belt in a division that has barely been around long enough to make an impact and historically has been where fighters go to hide to avoid stiffer competition. A unification of said division. Wins over two aged Legends.

It's hilarious when you really look at it.

Yeah he tried really hard to make those fights. Delusional idiots.

Sorry i've listed this list out so many times i'm tired of doing it. I need to save it in a notepad file it comes up so often.

                  It truly is disgusting.

What amazes me is how arrogant some of the Calzaghe haters are. Reading through this thread, it's totally obvious who the complete ****heads are. Go back, read your posts and consider what a **** you come across as.
