Bernard by a mile. Greater overall skillset, better resume, longevity. This is a no contest.

Umm am i missing something... Is this a joke topic? Surely we arent putting Calzaghe anywhere near the level of Hopkins... right?

calz is a joke. I'm glad he retired and I hope he doesn't return.

Calzaghe just edges it for me, If Hopkins had manned up and got in the ring with Branko Soobot like calzaghe did, then it would have been a different story.

I'd easily say Hopkins here, despite the fact that I'm a big Calzaghe fan.

Big deal, He knocked out 20 British tomato cans who coincidentally were no beter or worse then anyone he defended his fraud USBA/WBO title against.

like i said he does what he has to get the W - youre acting like zaghe was in his prime?

zaghe wasted his prime chasing the big fights, the fights with hopkins, tarver, RJ, johnson. the reason for them not happening is not because joe was afraid, he spent his best years chasing them:

besides zaghes level of comp is comparable to hopkins - kessler, eubank, lacy, bika, mitchell, reid, sheika at 168 are on equal footing with hopkins best wins at 160 - tito, joppy, DLH, holmes, eastman, johnson, jackson

For me, Calzaghe tipped it when he beat Will Mcintyre, he was up against it in that one, the americans thought he would lose, but he peforms his best as the opposition gets better.

By chasing him do you mean refusing to come to the US? Because that's what happened and that link you have is nothing but sympathetic propaganda. Action speaks louder then words.

No it's not at all, The only guy that was any good was eubank and he was past it. He's the only guy Calslappy fought at the weight who ever beat anybody. And the difference is Hopkins was the undisputed champ or considered the best in the division for the whole length of his reign. He actually beat the other belt holders instead of just imagining he could. Calzaghe was just another trinket holder who never even tried to unify the title until his 18th defense. He was hiding behind the most pathetic title in boxing for a decade.
