I got Bute by UD. What happened to Allan Green, I thought he was trying to get a title shot with one of these guys?

Steve Bunce really needs to be educated about international boxing though, he doesn't seem to be aware of the fact that The Ring's ratings are not compiled by The Ring but are compiled by a large number of independent boxing experts who don't work for The Ring, and nor does he seem to know what a lineal title is or why it matters. His implied comment that The Ring's ratings are personally compiled by De La Hoya and Hopkins just makes him look like a complete prick. He's quite a good interviewer, but his boxing knowledge (in terms of international boxing as opposed to UK boxing) is very poor, IMO. I've often seen factual errors in his articles in The Independent as well.

True, Bunce can be a Dunce sometimes. Usually he's spot on as they say in the U.K., but he can be a bit daft on occasion and he's prone to making a prediction then trying to waffle his way out of it(as he did after Hatton's destruction). Overall though he's pretty decent as a boxing guy and always has a good interview going on with the UK fighters.

I think he's a good interviewer but a poor boxing journalist. As I say, his knowledge of international boxing isn't what you'd expect from a boxing journalist, he's far too UK-centric - and far too cavalier with facts; and also, his articles are often pretentious waffle, especially his column in Boxing Monthly.

Froch is proving to be a great man for boxing. Going straight after the big guns instead of milking his title with a couple of defenses back home in Nottingham.

I can understand him going for Bute rather than Kessler simply because of Kessler's management fall-out. I mean who should Hennsey approach to try to make a deal? Kessler is isolated from big fights untill his contractsituation is settled.

Kessler had two fights in 2008, one for an alphabet belt, and the other a mandatory defence, so you exaggerate. Anyway, to be fair to Froch, he is trying to make a fight with Kessler (see the full youtube interview in the posts above).

Kessler also tried to make fights last year against several big names, including Taylor, but they weren't interested at the time. And his problems with his appalling promoter are not his fault, and are the real reason he hasn't had any big fights recently.

On his website, Kessler has written recently:
Hopefully I will fight the mandatory title defence against Perdomo in June, as I’m in really good shape after a longer training-camp in Spain.

Unfortunately it is out of my hands as I’m struggling with my former Promotor and Manager, however we should be able to find a solution in the nearest future.

I would love to fight Froch after the mandatory title defence.

To be fair, I think he said it tongue-in-cheek. And a lot of people have implied this too ever since Oscar bought the magazine. Some of the ratings have become a little suspect recently imo

I don't see how they can be genuinely suspect considering who the ratings panel consists of.

Most of the people who make that claim are simply unaware of the fact that The Ring's ratings are compiled by a completely independent panel of experts and not by The Ring. And I doubt whether Bunce is aware of that fact.
