What you're saying is that all rankings are meaningless. Independent rankings like The Ring's are certainly not the be all and end all, and upsets do frequently happen, but they represent the concensus opinion of the majority of boxing experts, so they are not meaningless. Kessler would be a massive betting favourite to beat Bute. I agree that doesn't prove he would beat him, but no one can call themselves the world champion until they have beaten Kessler.

agreed i dont know if mikkel has been given the ring belt but the vast majority of fans, reporters, fighters and networks recognize that mikkel is the main man by a long shot in that division

i would have preferred Andrade got his rematch with Bute first then Froch faced the winner

This is the kind of matchup boxing needs! Props to Froch if he gets this fight.

This one could go either way. Bute is the better technical boxer and is quicker, but Froch punches hard, and has excellent stamina and a tremendous will to win.

if bute beats froch i have a hard time believing anyone who says kessler should still be ranked number 1 in the division. could kessler possibly be viewed as the better fighter ? sure he could but by comparisons with froch on butes record , their resumes arent even comparable with bute fighting and beating the much better competetion. kessler has one good win over mundine and good win over andrade ( who was half the fighter he is now at the time ) and a loss to zags. what exactly would make him the best ?
