Marquez is a pure counterpuncher. He will immediately throw a punch after his opponent throws one whether it hits or misses him.
Floyd usually goes on defense when being hit upon by power shots, bringing his what I feel extra big gloves to his face. He only counterpunches when he feels his opponent is already weak and unable to deliver big punches.Comment

PBF. his whole style is built around defense and counter puching. he's hardley ever the aggresser ( at the lower weights classes he was more aggressive ) he waits for you to make a move then makes u miss then counters u. like how he knock out hattonLast edited by Shadow boxer 3; 05-10-2009, 06:59 AM.Comment

Floyd hasnt been wearing winning his whole career, just like erik didint wear them his whole career. second of all hes not winky wright to where he exclusively relies on that without slipping. third of all floyd doesnt just deliver counters when an opponent is "weak" and "unable to deliver punches", if an opponent is at that point, floyd is going for the knockout. i dont agree with your assesment at all. especially since your first sentence is damn near the EXACT same thing floyd tends to do once he has you figured out.Marquez is a pure counterpuncher.
