So you're saying "Slipping" and "blocking" is not defending yourself?

A counter is to slip or block a punch (defense) and then return a punch that lands.

Counter-punching without defense is simply offense.

        Now STFU.

Okay, I actually get what pacman7777 means, he's just worded it wrongly.

I think he's talking exclusively about the timing of a counterpunch, rather than wether a guy throwing it slips it or not.

Difficult to explain, but those are the kind of lines he is going along.

But he needs to call it day with the bickering.

You dont have to slip a punch whilst countering for it to be a counterpunch

A few weeks ago Nonito Doniare knocked down Raul Martinez with a counter left milliseconds after being hit with a right.

Ok, exluding the defensive part of counterpunching, I think PBF is a better counterpuncher.

                That's basic offense.

If you're not countering anything, then it's not a counterpunch.

The part in bold makes no sense.

all i said was counterpunching ability exclusively, they keep bringing up defense.....

There is nothing i have seen in JMM in the 7 or 8 years following him to which i could honestly say he has any sort of superior counterpunching ability to mayweather, which is saying alot, because at one point, countering was really all he used to ever do, back when nobody gave a **** about him. You see it more from him because he honestly is not that good going on the offensive, i say that because when he does, he gets hit and squares up, or hell overcommit to a punch and again, get hit, he did it against pac and it cost him the 2nd fight. I cant say floyd is a SUPERIOR counterpuncher, but hes not a level below him neither. the problem is thats really the only thing JMM has ever done thats on par with floyd in terms of ability.
