Well gatti would kind of be a joke, but the boxing hall of fame has very very very low standards. Genaro, JLC and Corrales all make it into the h hall one day, although Genaro is the least likely of the three.

What has Hatton done that makes him better then JLC who had a better run at lightweight then hatton did at 140, Genaro was a great 130 pound champion (whould just won a battle with cancer so boxing writers will probably look more favorably at his career also he is a boradcaster so he knows the guys that vote), and to me if I think JLC is going to get in Corrales has to be in also.

I do not see how Hatton is really above any of these guys, if anything Hatton is worse. it is much more of a popularity contest with the writers then who is really the best of the best. I am suprised you would even care about what the Hall of Fame things since they really do not have that many of the great Asian fighters in there.

Mayweather's career is a fraction of Pacquaio's. He doesn't have nearly the resume or legendery battles.

Pac's 49-3-2 looks way better than May's 39-0.

Win, lose, or draw, Mayweather needs to get into a tough two-fight series, or even a trilogy, with someone like Pacquaio, Mosley, Cotto, or even Marquez. Then he can call himself a great. It's all about the resume and body of work; not the record.

Also, for those trying to justify Floyd "I Have No More Money" Mayweather because he has fought a bunch of Hall of Famers who only get in because of the HoF's low standards... well, which is it?

Did he beat a bunch of Hall of Fame fighters, thus validating his record?

OR...

Did he beat a bunch of overrated journeymen who only get HoF credit because the standards for induction are so low? If that's the case, Mayweather is a nobody.

Can't have both. When two direct comparitives contradict each other, there are only two possible solutions:

1. One is right and one is wrong.
2. Both are wrong.

This is a world of absolutes. Relative truth is a myth, and there isn't any room on this matter for opinions.

Castillo,Corrales, & Genaro are not HALL OF FAMERS. & if anybody is gettin in the hall of fame in that trio its genaro. Hatton is very iffy. Dont you have to do something hall worthy to get in?

Dont confuse the 2 fights between castillo vs corrales as hall worthy. It wasnt a trilogy & only the first fight was great.

Adding names like: JMM, PAC, MOSLEY, and COTTO, are good names.

Pac and Cotto might be tough fights to make because of Arum.

Mosley would be the easiest fight to make.



I'm not saying I'm in favor of what Floyd does but Floyd sells so he does it.

When he was just Pretty Boy Floyd, there wasn't much noise in his pocket. He turns into "Money Mayweather," lots of noise is made from his filled pockets.

He does need bigger legacy fights like I mentioned.

Even as he moved up into the number 2 spot p4p, and then moved into the number 1 spot when hopkins lost to taylor, the only people really into him were purists. The guy was beating the hell out of people left and right and sometimes issuing very nice knockouts.

He was humble and nobody gave a ****. The worst part about this is that most of the people in this thread had no idea who he was at this point, look at how many in this thread have no idea that floyd called out mosley at 135 then again at 147, looks how many have no idea what mosley said after he knocked out vargas on ppv. Did larry have anything to say? hell no.

The circumstances around floyd are so complex, unless you have been following his every move, which most people havent, its easy to just see one side and call him a fraud. When a guy like manny is stopping the same people floyd went a longer distance, i can see how this would happen. I have a feeling in 10 years when im 36, ill be one of those people talking about floyd in the same light i talk about pernell "people at the time hated him no matter what"

Like i told you in another thread, pernell did it all, and was universally hated, called a coward, a runner, a puzzy etc and he fought EVERYBODY. Style and personality are what people like, its why roach can get away with calling floyd a fruad. its why Arum IMMEDIATELY downplayed joan guzman after he beat soto as to create the perception that Guzman is a runner and boring, knowing damn well he didint want to risk pac against a guy like that. Perception is everything. I think it takes alot to look past it and you have to be a serious boxing fan to even come close to liking a guy like mayweather, its why the same fans, like myself, come into countless thread spewing the same **** in hopes of putting threads like this into a perspective of reason which very few people seem to have.

I've ripped his career at 147+ because I thought he could have done more but I knew what he was saying back then and his goal was always O$car and Shane, so I understood at that point he was ready to get those fights and cash out. And, because I watched him back then, it's easier for me to still like him despite the "Money Mayweather" act I don't really like (even if it made him a fortune). If I started to watch him later on, say his 147 time...I might not like him so much.

I like to go back and watch his old fights as well. I thought he had more fun back then. Later on it seemed he was burning out and wanted to cash out and move on...which he did but now he is back. Money, Legacy? not sure...but rumors say Money. He has a chance now to increase his legacy as well as get that money.


He just needs to make sure he gets the "NAME" fighters.

of course there are people that are in the HOF that dont deserve to be there.
