Roach knows fighting at 147 is a huge risk getting PAC hurt! PAC should stay at 140 and forget 147 unless he plans to weigh in at 147.
    100% agree

      VS Mosley or VS Pacquiao.

either way I see cotto with good paydays if he's victorious against clottey.
I agree, Cotto isn't looking past nobody!

This fight should take place, after all Pacman is only doing something
Floyd refuses to do and that's fight Cotto and that's fight D best!

Exactly, Freddie is not dum, he knew de la hoya should of not been at 147 that y he accepted the fight. He's not going to let paq fight a real welterweight at 147.

there is that risk of cotto destroying manny...but that's still speculation.
manny has the chance to steal a decision.
manny will box all nyt and avoid miguel's powershots...just like how the "pretty one" do it.
pile up those points and finish 12 rounds...voila!! a WW belt for manny.
cotto will be bashed if he fights pacquiao. pacquiao is too small for him. and cottos still got some unfinished business at 147. why fight a lil guy like pacquiao when theres mosley, clottey, williams maybe and floyd? WOW.

It would be a bad career move for Pac to face Cotto, why risk what would be a massive pay day v Mayweather by fighting a big strong 147 pounder who is a far better fighter than Hatton.
Roach said in a post fight interview that 140 is where Pacs at now.
Seems to me that Arum wants to keep all the action (and money) in Top Rank and freeze Mayweather out. If Floyd beats Marquez and thats a big if, then Mayweather v Pacquiou at maybe 143lbs is the most natural, logical fight.
Dont get me wrong i would love to see Pac v Cotto but i really dont think Roach would let that happen at 147 and no way is Cotto coming down, i think Arum is just getting a bit excitable.

so even if he loses he can then fight cotto, but if pacquiao loses to cotto than we will more than likely see cotto vs pbf, right now pacman vs pbf is the interesting match-up
it isnt gonna be more money for pacquiao

Cotto wont be bashed he already is fighting the current biggest fighter at 147 CLottey , He already beat mosley , Williams is up at 154-160, and floyd only wants the smaller fighters like pacquiao and hatton or older fighters like ODLH. Floyd has never even fought a a ranked welterweight. On top of that Cotto is only 5'7 Pacquiao is 56'1/2. There wont be much size difference watch.

NO. The WW belt is at 147, not 143, not 144, not 145, not 146....

I'm getting pretty tired of Pacman and Roach using this strategy to benefit Manny. All this time it's been pretty obvious to me Manny is a short, but really stocky and powerful guy beating up on guys much smaller in frame than him (see JMM for example). In this Hatton fight, Ricky looked much weaker than Pacman. At least it was fought at the 140 lb limit, not some catchweight BS. Poor Ricky and his bumrush style, he didn't have a chance against Pacman or ANY top 5 140 lb fighter on Saturday.

Throw in Victor Ortiz in the ring on Saturday night and I guarantee the fight would have lasted a lot longer, heck it might not even have gone Manny's way.

I like Pacquiao, I'm not liking Roach lately. If they are going to fight for the welterweight championship, then you fight at the welterweight limit. If Duran and Armstrong could challenge champions at their scale, then so can Manny, get out of here with this special considerations BS, Pacman's not this tiny guy, he's short, but he has a logger's frame.

Cotto may be what, two-three inches taller max? If Cotto has to fight 5-11 guys like Margarito and Clottey, then Pacman can fight Cotto at 5-5 to Cotto's 5-7.

technically the belt would be on the line if both fighters come under 147.

um.... pac weighed in at 138 lbs and hatton was 140 lbs.

you want ortiz to become the next vargas? don't do it. I like ortiz too much for you to turn ortiz into vargas.

technically anything below 147 is welterweight

cotto is too big. height is a factor, but its not the all determining factor.

Arum seems a bit too confident, almost so that the Clottey fight isn't in the equation.

Wait until Clottey/Cotto is finished Bob, before talking up future fights.
