JMM is a legit win for Floyd Mayweather..Heres why.

I agree 100%1. Floyd wouldve been away a total of 22 months by the time its fight night.
JMM Has had plenty of fights and training camps since then.
2. Floyd hasnt weighed anything less then 147 in the last 4 1/2 years.
JMM has said hes moving up to 140 like Pacman and after his destruction and KO of Diaz everyone agreed with the move to chase Hatton..Mayweather and Pac...JMM also said143/144 is perfectly fine for him...he will most likely do what Floyd does and weigh a little less then that on weigh in day anyway..(i.e. Floyd weighing 150 for a 154 pound fight)
3. JMM Is the P4P Number 2 fighter in the sport who many think holds two wins over the current number 1 Pacman....So you could make a case for JMM beng P4P number 1.
This is Floyds comeback fight and hes facing a guy who is in shape..sharp...ready to go....and active and is the p4p number 2.
This is a great win for Mayweather.
If a guy who has been at WW/JMW the past 4 years and a guy who says he moving up to 140 calls him out...a catch weight weight fight is at 144 or less....which is what this fight is.
Mayweather by KO....10 rounds.
Nobody would want to fight or risk his fighter in a comeback, tune up fight against Juan Manuel Marquez who is currently active, has title belts, and is considered to be #2 P4P -- after a nearly 2 year lay off.
JMM stands as a major thread to any boxer's career in that weight division.
Floyd could have simply picked another less riskier fighter as a tune up.
And if he did, he would be accused of ducking JMM.
The majority who discount this as just another fight on his resume, are pretty much assuming Floyd will win regardless. Simply due to realizing Floyd's skills are on another level.Comment

I dont believe that..if he really never left the gym he wouldnt need a tune up...hed be ready for Cotto....Mosley...and Pac right now...but he obviously isnt.
Ive seen interviews in these past two years and boxing has not been number 1 on his brain....Floyd will alwyas be in good shape have you seen his 56 year old father...he makes Haye look bad.
actually from what I hear (and I am a small fish in a small pond) he wanted a bigger fight but when the demands of what he wanted were presented to HBO, HBO didn't want to give him PPV money for what they wanted to be a comeback fight on HBO Championship Boxing.
they thought about opponents and they only viable opponent who would be somewhat easy to deal with would have been Shane but the split they both wanted would have been too high.
In comes JMM and his calling out of Mayweather on HBO. I think all parties involved knew JMM would come at a bargain in relative terms as long as he didn't have to move all the way to 147.Comment

It is true that Floyd has been out of the spotlight as the sport's top fighter which may be why he is taking a fight with such a smaller fighter to not only lower the risk of embarrasment for losing to a Lightweight in Marquez, but it also jeapordizes his entire aura as an untouchable fighter. He must be 100% mentally prepared to fight even Marquez who I believe will still lose, but always has a mircale shot.I dont believe that..if he really never left the gym he wouldnt need a tune up...hed be ready for Cotto....Mosley...and Pac right now...but he obviously isnt.

Floyd's biggest challenges are indeed ahead of him.Comment

yeah
at 135
at welter? thats highly debatableJMM stands as a major thread to any boxer's career in that weight division.
no he coudn't have to be honest. $$ plays into this and for the amount he wanted middle tier welterweights wouldn't have worked.Floyd could have simply picked another less riskier fighter as a tune up.
And if he did, he would be accused of ducking JMM.
nah you realize thatThe majority who discount this as just another fight on his resume, are pretty much assuming Floyd will win regardless. Simply due to realizing Floyd's skills are on another level.
others will actually weight (pun intended) to see if JMM looks anywhere near the fighter who last fought 2/28/09.......at 135Comment
