My money is on the latter.

I'd also be willing to bet it will be yet another "catchweight" fight.

Oscar, Manny, Floyd, Ricky - Apparently none of them can settle on a legit weightclass.
Please dont turn my thread into this bull****.

You already know what Floyd is going to do.....

The reports are fight Mosley the number 1 WW then....Pac/Hatton winner.

The Pac/Hatton winner fight build up will be long as hell..its the biggest fight in the sport.

You can lose your timing staying away for that long.. and everything Floyd does relies on timing..

This has nothing to do with staying in the gym or being in shape
but at the same time JMM has now been in two wars during that span.

you don't think that comes into play?

being active isn't necessarily a good point IMO to bring when discussing the legitimacy of this fight because of the fights JMM has been in.

also while yes sparring and hitting mitts has nothing to do with what happens in the ring it does keep Floyd's repetitive memory in tact. Had he just stay in shape rather than in boxing shape then I could say it plays little in this fight but he has indeed been in a boxing gym for about a year now unlike a Tito who stayed away from the game then decide to come back.

          You beat me to it.......

If any fighter needed a tune up fight it would be floyd....

Everything he does in the ring is precise and caculated..every punch...every step....

He relies on timing...speed..accuracy...defense...movement...co unters....you dont just roll out of bed and regain that after 22 months away from a REAL fight.

The fact still remains... being inactive just shy of two years can and will effect your timing when it comes down to fight speed...

Marquez has been in two rough fights, hes also stopped both of those opponents... hardly what i would call "no momentum"

My thing is this...we cant blame Floyd for JMM's wars...JMM is still fighting and has actually gotten better as hes aged....p4p number 2 after 55 fights.

Pac has been in wars too....this is boxing.....

JMM does not look anything close to shot at all.

i hate this fight Floys will win not by KO but a dec hes just too big. But i believe Marquez will fare better against Floyd better than Manny would. Floyd would pick Manny apart and prob stop him. Marquez is too smart to get stpped by Mayweather. Floyd needs to stop being a ***** and fight a Cotto or a Mosley

                    Simply,

Would anyone be against any of the other Welterweights coming back from an 18 month hiatus to face a Lightweight? or would they be ridiculed?

I'm having a tough time believing Juan Manuel Marquez (a great fighter in his own right) will give Mr Mayweather problems in the fight unless Mr Mayweather is truly very rusty.
